update.

i work above Cheeve's and Pignetti's and when i parked today i saw "wes' burger shack" on the glass for the green door bar. went down at lunch and sure enough, there they were. same staff, same great burger. they are there for the time being during the day till it converts to a bar at night.

normally i'm not big on plugging a company, but i love their really-bad-for-you food, they have the best, most attentive wait staff of any establishment in the area, and Wes is a really nice guy. i'd really like to see them survive this.

So did the Green Door shut down?

no. wes' will be open from 11-3 like normal and then they will run the bar kitchen after that.

Wes's is open for lunch and Green Door at night as usual. But also a limited Wes's menu at night too from what I'm hearing.

Speaking of downtown Temple, what do y'all think of the Patio on Main? I've read/heard mixed reviews.

We had a terrible experience there last night. Got there around seven. Told server we had a volleyball game and needed to place order. At 8:30 we still had no food. Finally got food in to go containers and headed out for our 8:45 match. Total cluster bomb.

I want to like this place, but have heard about or personally seen bad service several times.

As a side note, we started out at the Railhead, but had to leave because one of our friends had their infant with them. The place was empty but the waitress said the manager would be mad if they allowed children in.

Wow. I went to the Patio's Facebook page and read a lot of experiences like yours about the wait. They replied that they were sorry and were fixing it. That was a couple of weeks ago. Ouch. I haven't heard of the Railhead. Friends said they liked the atmosphere of the Patio but that the food was not good. A looong time ago I worked a summer at las casas on the patio and the manager at the time was so he'll bent on good service.

Yeah, the Railhead is "21 and up"

Will be interesting to see how that place does... Hopefully they have a decent beer selection, reasonable drink prices, and is NON-SMOKING

The Railhead is owned by the same people has Hondeauxs. They just decided to rebrand.

It wasn't the branding that was the problem. The problem was the quality of the food and service declined dramatically after the first couple of months.

Maybe they'll find their niche. They are nice people and they are Aggies

I'm pullin' for them and will stop in when I get the chance...

Actually they sold the majority in it. The Hondeaux owners sold a majority of it and I think have no say in management decisions. I haven't been there since it's all changed. I haven't been downtown temple in a
while. I want dinner and drinks tomorrow night for my birthday. . Dinner most likely at cheeves in the bar. Then drinks.

Mazzag, what did you do for your bday?

Cheeves then we went to the Patio. Only had a beer a piece. Like the lay out but as soon as we walked in at 10 they started blaring nine inch nails. At 41 I'm too old for that plus I've already been there. I noticed Brian from the green door is working there. We had a good evening though.

I've heard some strange things about the patio. One of my wife's friends went and said there was a rave party.

What kind of rave party?

What did they do there?

No idea. My wife works out with hoity toity types (very nice people, just affluent and have a different lifestyle, that involves Cheeve's on a regular basis) and maintains a relationship with them separate of me for the most part but we were talking at a wedding last week about it.

They said they went in thinking it was going to be live music and it was strobe lights and glow sticks. Very weird.

I can see that. From the name and the atmosphere you'd think it would not be that way. You'd think it'd be an "upscale" bar for grown-ups, not an Austin bar from the 90's with barely 21yr olds as customers. Guess they'll figure out the hard way who pays the bills. Bell county just can't get it right. New places rarely live up to my expectations. But they do serve a brunch on Sundays with a bloody Mary bar. If it's anything close to ten oak in Austin, I'll be happy. If it's just a variety of olives & peppers I'll smh.
