I am considering getting out of my current line of work and starting a new career in law enforcement.

I have seen that Killeen PD is hiring and have applied. I am interested to know if anybody here works for them and would be willing to share their opinions of working there. Good, bad or ugly.

I am also interested to hear how the public in general views the department. Where I currently live most people love our department. Where I grew up, nobody had much respect for them.

I know a current KPD officer in training. He's in the academy now. Decided to do it later in life (38). He speaks highly of the guys he's met so far as well as the officers who teach. I doubt you'd want to stay in Killeen forever, but I don't think it's a bad place to start

i have a friend on Vice there. he enjoys the environment.

obviously they've had more issues than BPD or TPD as of late, but it's a whole different town.

I've been working for the City of Killeen for several years now. The cops that I know are real cool guys that work hard and want to serve the public. Obviously, there are some cops here that took the job because they're looking for a power rush. Those are the ones that have made a gross error in judgement and have no responsibility being cops. Just my $.02.
