A buddy said that is what is going to go in across from Holy Trinity High School...is this true? I really hope not.

Wouldn't surprise me.

With all the housing going up it's almost inconceivable that the options over there are the Adams HEB and Belton

Figured it was a matter if time before either a WalMart or an HEB was built in that area

Yup. Already broke ground and earth movers are working....

2305 is gonna be even more of a cluster

2305 is going to be more of a cluster, and they need to deal with it.

And it needs to be accomplished with flyovers from 31st street to 317, and around the corner all the way to Sparta Road

As for Main Street Belton from Sparta to 190, what a cluster. No idea how to deal with that since there are buildings right up to the curb in spots

Do something with the loop I guess

And let's remember the Adams Ave. bridge over 35 is closing today

Fun times ahead...

Green face for the cluster that 2305 is becoming. Thumbs up for keeping west temple traffic out of Belton Wal-Mart/HEB area.

i suggested flyovers down 2305 a while back and a few thought that was a dumb idea. i think we're going to have to. my kids go to pirtle and if it continues, i'm seriously going to have to consider a transfer. just ridiculous getting from the loop to anywhere west on 2305 any more.

that being said, i'm surprised that they haven't had more growth of shopping and eating out there before now. in the last 2 years the only thing added of note was pizza hut, dominos, and subway.

it's a pretty darn big deal for me. i live on 15th and they have shut off access to get to industrial from 15th to get on 35 for 4 months now. Now i can't even get on there via Adams.

It doesn't seem like the best place for a walmart. Maybe when the outer loop gets going I guess.

I'm not sure this walmart will keep people from going to Belton HEB/Walmart. My wife will still probably go to HEB because its NOT walmart. People in far west temple would probably drive over the dam and take lake rd to the Belton Walmart or HEB.

I'm interested to see what will pop up in front of the walmart.

And I always figured that west Adams would look similar to S 31st. Lots of lights, no flyovers.

Main difference is there isn't a good way to avoid W Adams.

My inlaws live on old Waco road. Not excited about more traffic that way. This won't be a true walmart. Just a grocery store. Idk if that will help or not. Probably not.

According to the paper and what Ive heard from city officials, this isn't going to be just a grocery store. This is going to be a Super Walmart.

Maybe with another store in the area providing more room for stock this will allow them to not have so much cap in the aisles. (Detect sarcasm)
jejdag

You left the 'r' out of cap.

ok, since I live here and can envision the traffic nightmare, anyone in the know about how they are going to deal with traffic? Does this mean a light at the Holy Trinity spot. I can see having to turn right and going around on airport road to get out of my street.

Also any timetable for completion.

I would probably still shop at the Belton HEB because I sort of love that store.

Per developers in the area that are "in the know" it will be a Super Wal-Mart. Definitely a booming side of town.

It is a Super Wal-Mart, not just a grocery as first rumored.

2305 is bad, but I am not sure where or how you would build flyovers. You are looking at ~8 million or more per flyover, and that is just in construction costs. Put it at an intersection, and you've likely got to buy and tear down any businesses sitting at those intersections.

I am fairly sure that 2305 is a TXDOT road, which mean flyovers would have to be funded with their dollars. I am not saying they are a bad idea (I'd love for it to happen), but go sit on some of the state highways in DFW, Houston, SATX, and Austin during rush hour, and then drive 2305 and try to put yourself in their shoes as far as where traffic congestion relief dollars need to flow.

I noticed a large piece of property next to the Catholic high school sold. Maybe a new heb plus for west temple people?

That's going to be a Freddy's!
mazzag
How long do you want to ignore this user?

WTH is Freddy's? Speaking of txdot, they are going to widen 439, but just from the little bridge to Sparta rd. They will actually reroute that span to go behind the spring meadow subdivision to Sparta and make that intersection a 4 way stop. I'm not sure if with lights or stop signs. No more blind side curve. The death toll on that part of it finally reached the point of them justifying the money spent. Sorry Austin, Dallas, and Houston people.

Freddy's Frozen Custard is a chain that obviously specializes in their frozen custard. They also have hamburgers and that sort of stuff.

They are rerouting 439 to go behind that subdivision? What does the curve become then?
mazzag

I don't know but from the little dinky bridge to Sparta will be a new road with 2 lanes for both sides. I think there's one property owner holding out for more money and then construction should start.

i figured bumping this was better than a new thread.

it took 45 minutes for me to get from downtown temple to the soccer fields at Pirtle/LBMS yesterday. no wrecks, nothing that i could see that was causing he problem.

it's going to be a mess in a hurry if we get the walmart and other businesses that are coming (not to mention the ongoing housing) without something done for the road structure out there.

45 minutes? It's never taken me that long. Even at 5pm

Usually about 15-20 in heavy traffic

But yeah, I will start avoiding that area like the plague when that wal mart is finished

But if it really takes that long, I guess you could try Adams > 31st > Nugent > loop > 36 > 317 > Adams again

Terrible route but it won't take 45 minutes

I was dumbfounded. I left the house in historic district at 5:05 and pulled into the parking lot @ 5:47.
