Anyone want to give me a breakdown of soccer options and some do/don't or general tips.

My kids are 5 (girl) and soon to be 4 (son). I assume there is stuff for at least the 5 year old and quite possibly the 4.

Signed my son up in Temple at CenTex Storm. I believe registration ended on August 1st, but you can check it out. I also think Belton Christian Youth Center does soccer, but not positive. My son played in Salado last year as a 4 year old.

BCYC does do rec soccer. I'm not sure about fall but I know they do in the spring. Even for your son's age.

BCYC is a lot less competitive from our experiences.

We have done Centex Storm for about 3-4 years now. At that age it's not ridiculous or anything but once they get a bit older it will be.

One thing I would recommend is to ask around (for the 7 year old) and see of there's any coach in particular that the parents like a lot and if you get in with said coach, stay in. We had a few different coaches over the first year and then found a coach that we stick with and have had the same teammates and it's been a better experience IMHO.

My daughter is almost 11. Last year we did academy thru Liverpool. This year she is on an 04 select team. I think they offer a team for even younger children. I will look.

Centex registration ended August 3. I would imagine they would still register your 3 year old for the First Kick program though. It's a great, low-maintenance introduction to soccer. There are no teams or mid-week practices. You just show up Saturday morning for 20 minutes of drills followed by 20 minutes of scrimmage.

What about adults?

First kicks is great, but I noticed that attendance dropped significantly as the season went on. It may be just that kids learn they don't love it and drop out.

There's also FC Belton that took off after the BCYC debacle a year or so ago. Cantera up in Troy, but they no longer have access to CenTex fields. Lone star is also on its way out as far as academy league.

My son (7) plays CenTex academy U9, daughter (4 in December) will likely go CenTex next spring rather than FC Belton only because every other weekend they will play at Korampi.

BCYC DEBACLE (in a nutshell)
BCYC let Raymond go who was in charge. Then they had somebody that while intentions may have been there, really had no business running a soccer league. BCYC had been 3v3 and 5v5 so the kids would all get touches on the ball. This was an effort to develop the players. Then BCYC went to 11v11 so it would really look like ants running around. Numerous teams and coaches left and went and started FC Belton, others to CenTex. For the money you payed at BCYC, you got a shirt with refs who weren't qualified/certified. Over at CenTex you got shirts, shorts, quality refs that know the game and fields that are 100000000000000 times better than Heritage where BCYC and Lonestar play.

ha, yes! they are moving to Utah.

Sorry I haven't checked back in. I called one of the Liverpool team managers and have had no response about the little reds program . Probably best. A very disorganized organization and way over priced for the lack of communication the parents receive.
