Has anyone checked them out yet? I noticed they were open between Jason's Deli and Pier One in Temple.

Haven't checked them out, but a glance at their menu indicates they need to change their name to "Pure Chick Foods"

I think we went to one of those in Austin. The food is good and well seasoned so no need for extra salt. They had specific meals labeled low sodium, low fat or gluten free. I think the main benefit is portion control!!! If you go on Jenny Craig you spend at least $300 per month on packaged foods and STILL have to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy etc...the FitFood is packaged and ready and fresh just waiting for purchase and transport home!

When we leave Waco we eat at places we cant get at home...which means we return stuffed! Eating at FitFood is better for us but not as much fun.

Yeah, I get it ... Portion control

But "portion control" is synonymous with "less food"

And less food should mean less money, right?

Not at this place

$11 for a 400 calorie bowl of turkey chili?

When it gets down to it, let's be honest, we're paying a premium for the restaurant to handle the self discipline element we're incapable of handling ourselves. We are basically paying them the withhold food because we don't have the discipline to do it ourselves

Anyway, $5 for a cup of yogurt with some berries on it

Or, $5 for a Waterburger with cheese and jalepenos

No contest

I know some people like these fru-fru places

I think they are a colossal rip-off

Flame away

yes it is the self control issue but really you want a discussion, let's talk about the organic food rip-off!

organic, pure eggs come out of a chicken's butt just like regular eggs...I get the not feeding the Momma bird bad chemicals but heck, she eats her own doodoo and every other bird's as well so she can't be too pure either!

when I start talking organic my kids say, Oh Lord!

You know, a few years back MANY dogs were sick and dying and they found the source to be bad dog food packaged under several different names...high priced BRAND NAME foods as well as generic store versions all same ingredients from same plant. So...you pay $25 a bag for Blue Buffalo or Hartz or some other big name or you pay $4.99 for IGA or Brookshire Brothers or Piggly Wiggly....the food is THE SAME but some of those bags are damned expensive!

Yep

Our mutt has lived on a diet of Wal-Mart dog food, whatever falls on the floor, and whatever the kids feed her under the table....

She's 12 years old and runs around like a puppy

Go figure

Purefit is about what I expected

Prepared, refrigerated meals that you either take out or heat up in their microwave

Their pitch is "health" --- low fat, low calorie, high nutrition. Things like turkey meatloaf, sweet potato casserole with almonds, green beans, etc

The food tastes good, is well seasoned, has fresh ingredients, and the portions are Ok --- of you're a chick (I could have easily doubled up on the meal)

Price runs about $6-$15 a meal, depending on what you get

Overall, not bad, but will not be my first choice

Should be popular with the female workforce at Scott &White/South Temple

My husband liked the salmon but said to make a meal off anything they had he would need a triple dose! Three of some of the entrées would be an outrageously expensive meal

Do not confuse with My Fit Foods, they basically stole the idea and one of the original My Fit chefs. They have been given a cease & desist from My Fit for copying their website and their 21 Day challenge. My Fit is in Houston/Austin/LA etc. Purefit is only in Killeen/Temple.

Well, I didn't confuse them with My Fit Foods

I've never heard of My Fit Foods

As for all that other stuff, I'm trying to figure out why I should care

We went to My Fit Foods in Austin. It was good. It is about portion control and healthier ready to go food. Per portion size, it can be overly expensive.

Pablo is right, unless I invested into the Fit Food debacle, why would I care about how they run/don't run a specific location?

Speaking of which how tarded do you have to be to have a temple CoC ribbon cutting weeks before they are open. They got media attention then for 3 weeks they couldn't deliver squat to the temple market.

If they had half a brain you have a soft opening first, then you schedule a ribbon cutting.

Damn, did that place steal your woman or something?

You've kinda gone psycho about them

Anyway, no, don't give a rip about any of that

Really, who does?

If the place is any good, it'll make it

If not, it won't

I work in Killeen, and the local business community is kinda tight.

That was the killeen location.

The Temple location is just 3-foot shallow refrigerators.

I missed this earlier. Pure Fit Foods hasn't had a ribbon cutting with the Chamber yet, so this rant is a little confusing.

As far as I know they are still in business

Did they ever have that ribbon cutting that didn't happen?

EDIT - They now have 3 locations
