Howdy,

In about a year's time, I will be transitioning out of the military. Right now, I am trying to narrow down my career focus. I will be going to grad school full time to finish my M.S. in HRM, here at TAMU-CT, but as the only HR experience I ever had was military related, I don't have any civilian qualifications.

My question is, which of the plans below is the best course of action?

A) Entry level HR position (part time) and grad school

B) Internship and grad school

C) Just grad school and try to get into a rotational program right after I graduate

Any advice would be appreciated!

If anyone has some good leads, that would be helpful too!

My wife worked in HR for Target previously, but changed to HR for a non-profit a couple of months ago. The Harker Heights and Temple stores were both in her district (North Austin) and I know they had a hell of a time keeping both of those stores staffed with the upper level positions. I would say that may be a good place for you to look at applying to. They are also very good about hiring former service vets, and they are also good about fast tracking people to higher positions.

Big draw back is working retail hours and not being off on typical holidays
