I haven't followed this but from what I understand voters approved funding for a major sewage upgrade along Main Street in Salado

According to proponents, lack of adequate sewer infrastructure is what has been inhibiting major business expansion along Main Street, primarily expansion in the culinary industry

But some homeowners outside of the he Main Street area are ticked off because they thing they will foot the bill but see little direct benefit

So, what's the word about all that?

Will it be a catalyst for major growth there?

Waste of money?

Thoughts?

From what I saw on the news from a proponent of the project, currently, for a new business to open along I-35 the business would need to buy 2 lots. One for the business/parking and another lot for their septic system. I'm sure that real estate along I-35 in Salado isn't cheap, therefore, it makes sense that this will remove a barrier to new businesses.

But this sewer system is only for main st businesses? How much land is left to develop on main? How many restaurants does salado need?

Even along I35, how many businesses/restaurants want to open there? Seems a burden on residents. When Jarrell installed their sewer system, for everyone in the city limits, it made a mess of the streets. I think it's attracted a family dollar store in town. The businesses in sonterra aren't in the city limits but I have noticed development on the southbound side that is in the city limits.

If anyone is complaining about development codes in Bell County, you should just be glad you aren't in Travis County.

And Williamson for that matter,

Just read about this development going in about 3/4 of a mile from my place. I own 12 irregularly shaped acres with no road frontage. Any ideas what this will do to my land value? Should I get out now, or wait and see?
