Much smaller than St. Mary's in College Station, but a very nice community. I had never been to their church/student center. They have a very nice Asian priest and the kids did a great job of putting on the Liturgy. I went at lunch so you had quite a few students coming from class and stuff. Parking sucked, but it always will around campus.

Just thought I'd share. Pretty neat to go and be around a campus ministry again when you aren't for so long. It's so much different and so much more "alive" than some of the more traditional churches you go to just because of the youthful energy around it.

I like Fr. Daniel a lot. Very amiable guy. Solid priest. Only two complaints about St. Peter's is the parking and how close the pews are to each other.

As a protestant i will be eating much red meat today in your honor. And smoking, drinking and eating bad stuff so you people don't put a dent on the economy.

My church, First Christian Temple, observed Ash Wednesday, but the service was at seven AM. I could not attend and drive to work on time. I did not know if a Catholic church would give ashes to a Christian from another denomination.

3rd Gen, I don't think from your posting history that this is meant to be inflammatory, so I'll give a serious response. Yes, you could have received ashes.

not inflammatory. I know I can't take communion there.

Father Daniel specifically made it a point to say that you could receive ashes if you wanted even if you weren't catholic. I thought that was nice. He also said (correctly) you can go up for communion just cross your arms over your chest signifying you can't take communion and they will give you a blessing.

There is a good explanation of it here:

Essentially it comes down to Catholics believing something different about the Eucharist that nearly all other Christian denominations. Hope this helps.
