All the 35 south traffic is being diverted in Belton to 190 west and then on to 1670. I guess from there you stay on the service road in Salado or turn at the high school? This is sad. One person died and three others at s&w.

Not a good option. All nb traffic is being diverted to 95
95 north is stop and go from academy to Elgin I hear. In holland it's backed up as far as I could see anyways. South 95 is moving pretty good . Downtown Holland is gridlock. Looks like cornfest without the corn......... Or fest
Good opportunity to set up a roadside beer stand though.

Damn. I heard about it at work but didn't think it was actually collapsed. T&p for the people involved. Has anyone given estimates on when it will be cleared. If anyone needs to go to Austin id take 190 to lampassas then 183 in. Out of the way but a better route than the other way. The bypass for cove is open so you miss all of cove now.
Or you could go 190 to 195 thru Florence and come out in Georgetown.
True, but I'd bet most people will go that route. May be really bad traffic. 195 is bad on a good day. At least 183 is 4 lanes
For whatever reason, they have decided to stop nb traffic at Georgetown and kick it onto 195. Pretty they have taken a bad situation and made it way worse.
They are probably just trying to control traffic flow. towns further south of Georgetown will clog up 95.
Yeah, the only problem is a good chunk of that traffic flow from Austin/Round Rock would have left the interstate by Jarrell. By doing what they did, it clogged that part up unnecessarily.
I forget. Jarrell is the next hutto. NOT. But I do feel bad for my cousin. He lives in sonterra but works in Pflugerville. And my SIL works for KISD but lives in Jarrell.
They can take Ronald Reagan all the way to barrel now. She'd have to hit 195 out of Florence to hit it and he can take 29 towards liberty hill. Quick route
Anyone else find this strange? They say his truck was too tall, which I guess is obvious. But looking at the pictures, his trailer isn't really anything special. Why would a major interstate highway - one of the busiest in the nation - not be able to handle pretty much all trucks and trailers?

Apparently, the one that actually caused the accident was not in the pictures because he made through the intersection and parked on the other side.

They said on the news last night that the bridge was low, even for construction standards. Like 14.5 ft but that there is plenty of warning signs before it. James is way behind on this part of 35. This will be interesting to keep up with.

I think it was actually 13'-6" which is very low. TXDOT spokesman said on the news that when done, all overpasses would be 16'-6" at a minimum.

The warnings said 13-6. It was actually 14 and some change. Low but there are lots of warnings and a cushion for error.
The 13'6" was on the warning sign. The standard trailer height is 13'6". The actual height was about a foot higher.
The truck that does the damage is usually on it's way out before contact with the trailer is made, it's the vehicles behind that truck that are in danger.

Read today the truck was not permitted, which is required for all loads over 14'. If the truck had a permit, TxDMV would have given him a different route.
The article I read from kcen this morning said he did have a permit.

What did they need a permit for? That's what I can't figure out. A single trip permit is different from an envelope. What do thay haul? A single trip should re route them.
