For the benefit of people in Williamson County

Yeah, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the landowners out there are none too happy about that...

I am not happy. It will wipe out all the bottom land around Cameron with a lake with an average depth of 2 feet.

This is in a different spot than the one that has been talked about for the last 40 years

This one is out near Gause

The road between cameron and gause is great - this will make that property extremely valuable. Isn't RC out there?

The one that they were talking about was going to be about 20,000 acres and located on the Little River. The one shown here is located on a small creek. I hit a hog in that creek bottom with my brand new car about four years ago.

No. Just a lot of good farm/ ranch land.

I feel for the landowners in the area. One person they interviewed bought 700 acres to retire on, and will lose 600 if the plan goes through. The proposal is for a 4,300 acre reservoir. I think the old proposal for a much larger reservoir is off the table.

On the flip side, I appreciate that the BRA is being proactive. Texas is growing, and we can't just close our eyes and pretend we won't need more water like California. There is always a loser when projects like this happen. You just have to minimize how many and to what extent. I hope the people that lose their land are more than fairly compensated.

I read that the lake would be closed to public use for recreation. I am not sure if that is accurate, but that would be a big load of BS if true. This lake would have a capacity of 155,812 acre feet. In both storage and surface acres, it would be about 70% of the size of Stillhouse. That is more than sufficient for robust recreation opportunities.

4,500 surface acres is plenty big for recreation. They dont want recreation on it because then they would have to have a partner to provide and manage those recreation facilties. If BRA is going it alone and without TPWD or another government entity then there will be no recreation.

By the way, RC Slocomb owns a place out that direction.

Why dont they just let the adjacent land owners build the infra structure for recreation as private investment.
