For a week soon. I havent been there in a long time. the last time i was there, there was still a huge field next to the Jack in the box off 2410. heard it is a huge shopping center now. weird.

anyway, as it seems the whole area has changed and my knowledge is sadly out of date

where is the best Tex-Mex now in Killeen (or Heights or Cove, Belton etc.)?
any other good restaurants? Maybe a nice fancy place to take my wife sans kids?
is there anything to actually do in Killeen now that is both legal and kid friendly? (there wasnt much of that when i lived there)

thanks for the assistance

Howdy and welcome back!

1- Best Mexican Food in Killeen/ Harker Heights is Taqueria Mexicano... 4 locations (Rancier near the KISD Soccer Fields, Business 190 and WS Young, Knight's Way in HH, and Stan Schlueter Loop west of 195)

2- Luigi's Italian on Knights Way and Verna Lee is a great date spot. Texas Land and Cattle on 190 also good

3- Not much has changed here- the lakes are always a nice thing, new Cinemark Movie Theater in HH is very nice as well

If you're in town Friday, August 7 feel free to join the Killeen/ Fort Hood A&M Club for the Football Kickoff Lunch featuring Dave South. The fun starts at Noon at A&M-Central Texas

Temple has better "fine/fancy dining" options than Killeen. Cheeves downtown is nice, but bring $200 for a couple

Even though I quit going there because of long waits and slow service, Megg's in Temple still has the best food in Bell County

Killeen has much better chain fare, and ethnic cuisine, and alot of good food trucks

Belton Lake is mostly closed due to high water. Stillhouse is open

Family entertainment? Movies, hiking in one of the local hiking areas (Dana peak, miller springs, chalk ridge), Colorado Bend State Park is an hour away, or perhaps something like Spare Time in Temple. Summer Fun Waterpark in Belton might work.
