retail development called Main Street Crossing. Supposedly anchor tenants are Planet Fitness and Ace Hardware.

Why? The ace hardware will have an outdoor garden center facing 6th. It should be nice and I'd rather go to ace than Walmart. The one is salado is nice and this one will be bigger with a lot more outdoor space. Planet fitness I have no idea about but it's close enough to UMHB for students. The idea is for these two anchors to attract other businesses to the development and it's a heck of a lot better than an empty HEB, which I wish they had left open, or just extra parking for the church, which was a possibility at one time.

If it's Temple, probably another jail.

Don't UMHB students get free access to the Rec center at the college???

I'm sure they do. But it seems they have more fun off campus.

I'm glad to hear an Ace Hardware is coming. Take them over the McCoy's in Belton any day, although a plus is McCoy's lumber. I walked in there several times, and not one employee would greet you or ask if they could help. Each time, there was not another customer in the building, and the employees are all sitting around visiting with each other.

I bought a new weed eater this year, first looked there. The only one I liked wasn't price marked so I had to go find someone to take a look at it and then look up a price. I left, went straight to Home Depot and bought one. Granted, HD had a better and more varied selection.

I respect the McCoy family and their business. Just missed getting hired at a McCoy's in Manchaca one time.

The Ace in Harker Heights is OK, yet I don't want to drive a 30 mile round trip when I need something I know Ace carries in stock. Haven't been to the Salado store yet, and yes that is an option. Ace usually carries good inventory of plumbing parts.

It's been over a decade, at one time I managed two different hardware stores in the Hill Country.

( just my opinion )

I have bad qualms about ACE due to family relations. I understand wanting development for the town, but I would rather see other businesses there. Keep in mind I don't live there anymore, so my opinion is biased.
