I believe it is still out. if you are heading from this area towards college station, it is not a big inconvenience though. Once you get as far as you can go on 485 (just outside of Hearne), it leaves you no option other than turn on a little farm to market road. You will take that just a couple miles over to 79, turn left and pick up hwy 6 in the southern end of Hearne. really doesn't add any time to you trip.

The problem seems to be more with people coming from College Station to this area. The problem being, it is not as well marked (or better put, you would have to know to turn onto 79 in Hearne before you go all the way to 485, and then it is not very well marked once you are even on 79)

Anyway, one morning I had to go to B/CS and went that way forgetting the bridge was out. It added no time to my trip. Since I already knew the way to go, I had no problems on the way back home that evening.

However, I have had several people coming from B/CS to Temple that it really confused and they ended up just taking 79 to Cameron and then coming over on 36.

If you're going to College station, it's really no different at all.

Worked like a champ other than the 3,000 or so car train that beat me to the crossing just north of 79 on 1644.

Stopped at Green's coming and going which made it even better.
