i heard from 2 sources that it's now 9. one was struck.

would like to hear about that after the process is over.

Heard they've narrowed it down to their finalists.

Midway ISD will introduce its new head football coach at a Friday press conference, Midway athletic director Brad Shelton confirmed Monday night.

The Midway school board will meet at 7:30 a.m. to hear the search committee's recommendation to replace Terry Gambill, who was hired by Allen Jan. 18. The press conference will follow at 11 a.m. at the Midway Activity Center.

ESPN Central Texas' David Smoak reported Monday that Midway's new coach would be Mansfield's Jeff Hulme, pending board approval. Hulme is 59-37 in eight years at Mansfield, including 12-3 in 2015.

Midway administrators have not confirmed that Hulme will be the new coach.

Any word from Temple? Do y'all think nothing will be announced until Monday?

well, I think it goes to the board on Monday. So I would think that a lone finalist will be identified at any time now...

I am somewhat surprised by that hire. Those internal promotions have not worked well for them in the past. Maybe this one will be different. If it does not work out, I doubt they will get Rhoades to apply a third time. I imagine folks in Cameron are very happy this morning.

Not sure how you pass on a proven commodity. Guy has been to 5 State Championships in 6 years and won 3 of them. He's taken a team to the State Championship 6 times.

He needs to stay right where he is.

He was turned down by Temple and Midway. Must be more than meets the eye.

Temple's had a pretty dominant defense under him. i don't think that changes and he's not the same as some of the other internal hires.
