Announced this morning he is headed to Gregory-Portland. Word is Tommy Brashear, home town boy, will be the interim AD. Personally I am hoping it becomes a permanent situation for Tommy. He's a good guy.

We have a vacancy also.

you had to imagine it was coming.

he's applied for other positions in the area, what? 3 times in the last 5 years? while Cameron was on top?

can't imagine they really wanted him around after that.

I can't imagine why Temple hires a coach with zero head coaching experience over a guy with 6 title games and 3 titles under his belt

Fedora out at Navasota. Bet he will be a front runner for the Yoe job. Don't care if it is a smaller classification.

I think Navasota reversed their decision and renewed Fedora's contract.

Even with Fedora available. I hope they hire Tommy Brashear from within. He is a Yoemen and deserves a shot.

Rhoades was offered the Temple job but told he could not bring any assistants. Had to keep entire current staff. Rhoades then withdrew his name.

I don't know if that is true or not but word around Cameron the night before they announced their hire was that it was Rhoades. The next morning about 930 suddenly the same people were saying he turned it down.

I'm not sure other than his son, which coaches will go with him. I guess it depends who is hired. Many of our staff are Cameron boys that grew up, moved away and came back. Most want to raise their families here.

Spradlin let very few stay on board last time, the ones he did, were on the defensive side of the ball where Temple has been pretty dominant.

they maybe said they wanted to keep that rolling and he wanted his guys instead.

it's a weird thing when you know coaches and their families, it changes your view.

I remember being pumped that Fran finally got fired, but then realized that a good friend's brother was now out of a job with his family to support. he didn't get a big fat parting check from A&M like Fran did. Same thing with a friend of mine that is at THS, he's been a mainstay for years and very well respected. He'd been fired at the drop of a hat if Rhodes came in most likely.

Weren't most of the guys on staff at a Cameron already there when Rhoades got there? Didn't even think he brought anyone in other than to fill spots that were already open.

I think you are right about not bringing a lot with him. I do not remember if Anderson came his first or second year as OC. Thinking back most of the varsity staff was here when Mullins was here.

It's just business, and coaches know the business they're getting into

A HC should be allowed to select his assistants

Don't get me wrong... I promise I'm not being insensitive... I have friends and family who have been through it

It is the nature of the beast though... I just think you don't bring in a head coach and then tell him who he must have on his staff..

No I don't disagree with you at all and I wouldn't blame Rhodes at all if he had came in and fired friends or have any ill will.

Just meaning that knowing people changes your view a bit.
