Having issue clearing code p1300 (igniter circuit malfunction) on a 1996 Corolla 1.8L DX. Car is a one owner has 385K miles, 3.5-4k oil change intervals. Would drive car and it would randomly stall with check engine light showing code p1300. No other codes. When to pick a part and picked up an igniter and main relay. I changed the igniter and it had no effect, changed the relay and car drove fine for a few days and then started stalling again. Sometimes turns on quickly after stalling but more often it takes a few tries . Car has been relatively trouble free except for the last 3 months were I had a bad ignition coil, oil leaking into distributor, and ac clutch going bad. All of which have been resolved.
Anybody dealt with this code on a Toyota? From researching, the next step seems to be the ecu. I was thinking of getting rid of it but the engine and transmission are still going strong, and I had recently replaced the timing belt, motor mounts and water pump( still had original) as preventive maintenance. Plus the ac blows cold and it has a decent aftermarket speakers/head unit I installed a few years ago. It has been the perfect daily driver until this issue came up.
