Just got a text from my wife that she's concerned she won't be able to make it down our driveway to go pick up our son from school. We just moved to the country and don't have an actual driveway yet.

I had to remind her she's driving a 100 on KM3s. I think she's gonna be fine.

Good to see this thread back up.

I spent a few hours working on the rig last month. Truck started going lean all of a sudden. It would start fine, drive a few miles, then it was just like I turned the key off - except it was idling, and would keep idling perfectly... it was just too lean to do anything else. I had to full chocke to limp it back home and within a few minutes of sitting it was all fine again.

I thought fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel cap not venting, everything that would contribute to fuel starvation - but the fuel level was always right there where it should be in the carb window. So I decided to rebuild the Flux Capacitor. I bought a master kit on RockAuto, dusted off the factory service manual, and set to it. Happy to report we are 10/10 again.

I never found a smoking gun in there that caused an AHA moment - but the exercise cured the ills and I'm happy about that.

I need to replace the catalytic converter on my '03 LC100. I tried running cleaner through it and it's toast. The Toyota cats are $1500 and I can get one on Rock Auto for about $300.

I'm sure the Rock Auto is some Chinese aftermarket, but that's a pretty big difference in cost. Anyone gone that route or any advice on replacing the cats on this thing?

I would love to just take to a muffler shop and bypass the damn thing.

Are you in an area where vehicle inspections are no longer a thing?

Yes, I'm in Texas. However, my registration expired in December and the new law kicked in in January. I was told that I still have to get the inspection and registration under the December law.

You were told wrong. I just renewed 3 vehicles with expired registration online without issue. They can't be expired more than a year. The new sticker is dated a year after the original expired registration. Renew online and deal with the exhaust later.

Same. My wife's expired in December, and I just waited until January to renew it.
