I have a 2006 4runner and the driver side seat is looking pretty rough. The upholstery is beat up on the bottom. Is that an easy DIY to replace or should I take to a shop to have it done? I was quote by a mobile service for roughly $500.
I added heaters to my 2006's front seats in Jan/Feb, so I had the upholstery almost completely off. It's kind of a PITA working with the hog rings and getting it all put back together. I'd probably try and tackle it myself, but if you ask me again tomorrow, you might get a different answer, lol.
Check out The Seat Shop in Plano. They have some videos, but it involves removing the seat and using hog rings and special pliers to put the new cover on.
Check eBay for the leather and even the foam. I redid my 3rd gen 4R and added seat heaters as well. Not hard to do and the new foam made a big difference. Hog rings and pliers are pretty cheap.
