After 19 years with 4Runners (one for 12 and one for 7 years), I fell in love with the look of the new LC when it was unveiled. I worked with a dealer in DFW to get one, and it finally came in last week. It's the Land Cruiser trim, with the premium upgrade package and 20 inch wheels. I didn't really want the premium package, but the sales guy said pretty much all the ones being made were coming with that at this point...I chose to believe him. It came without any of the typical port addons.

I think they look a lot better in person, so I'm skipping a lot of exterior pics (you can see them elsewhere), but thought I would share a few details I haven't seen much of online elsewhere. It comes with some nice rubber floor mats. The drivers seat has an extendable bolster for increased thigh support. The center console has a cold box, which kind of ruins the storage ability for spare change, and random junk I carry around, but is kind of neat. And it has cameras all over, I included a pic of what pops up onscreen anytime you get below 5mph or so (this is at a stop light), but the overhead look is very helpful for parking.

For someone coming from a 7 year old 4runner, a lot of this tech is very new to me!

Congrats on the new ride, hopefully that one serves you as well as the previous 4runners.

I personally hate the auto-on camera and piss of my wife by turning it off every time I drive her '21. It's distracting to have that pop up on the screen to me.

And we use the cool box quite often (besides daily school duties). Nice to keep stuff cold on trips, especially with the newest one and our constant supply of bottles.

I figure in a couple weeks I'll get a good idea for what features I want to turn off! Some of them are definitely neat and cool, but might turn into annoying and useless before long.

Definitely not useless, just a distraction for me when slowing down at a stop light/sign or in traffic.

How do you turn this on? I imagine it's similar in a Lexus interface. My wife's NX doesn't do it but her mom's does. I can figure out how to turn it on.

What happens on that screen when you've got directions on carplay or nav on? Do you lose your map?

I like the color of those seats. Really nice looking.

When you accelerate; the screen reverts to whatever was shown before it switched to the camera.

Toyota unfortunately does not allow you to turn off a lot of that esp. annoying stuff. I had a Lexus ES350 with their advances safety crap and it was annoying as hell.

The rear cross traffic alert and auto brake system is a sensitive as it can possibly be and annoying as hell. I had a car going behind me as I was backing out of my driveway, could see it as I looked out the back window and I waited until it was clearly out of the way, took my foot off the brake and BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP,,,CRRRRRRRRRR (the auto brakes seem to activate the ABS system). I thought I'd hit something b/c of the sudden pulse braking/noise. It happened all the time when there was clearly no danger of a cross traffic accident (it happened once when a stopped car was waiting for me to back out so they could take my spot). Freaking hated that car b/c of it and eventually sold it after 2-years. Usually keep cars 10+.

I asked the dealer about turning it off and the tech told me they can turn some stuff off on the older models, but haven't figured it out on the newer (2022+) models yet.

Does a 6er fit in there? My LX barely fits a 6 pack but that one looks smaller.

Pretty sure 4 is all it holds. It did drop the temp in that box from 95 degrees to 43 after 30 minutes of driving. I wondered just hit cold it would get so I dropped a thermometer in there. Worked better than I expected.

In the 200, when you turn on the camera view or put it in reverse, there is a button on the screen for the option to have it come on automagically at low speeds.

how does interior size compare to the 4runner? Wife has a 16' 4runner and we have 2 second graders so space is a concern.

Are you aware that the rear cargo area only holds up to 132 lbs?

This is not true. It gets talked about a little here.

https://www.landcruiserforum.com/threads/130lb-60kg-max-weight-in-cargo-area.822/

Car Care Nut is out there causing a panic because he doesn't understand the what the warning label says.

I enjoy his videos on old Toyotas because he has a ton of direct experience and real world data. But anytime he has a new car to talk about he comes across as not very bright.

Not only that I once saw him with a couple of 200s in the shop. He opens the hood, taps a fist on the radiator, and talks about how sturdy and great it is, and how it won't have any problems . . . The radiator being one of the most common early failures on a 200

I don't mean to knock the new LC. I really want to buy one in a few years....but there seems to be several design issues.

Like what happens when your ice chest springs a leak on top of those batteries at the bottom of the rear cargo area? It's a very real scenario that will happen to folks. Happened to me last summer on a road trip...the drain plug cracked and flooded the entire back of the car. But no batteries in a Ford Expedition. At least not yet.

Honestly Toyota has been doing hybrids this way for over a quarter century. If I was in the market for one of these that would be way down my list of worries.

I traded it in. Was going to sell to a friend and he flaked. It was a shame because it was in great shape with all the maintenance up to date and a big folder of oil change receipts/etc. Got a bit above KBB for it, and $2,500 above the Carmax offer.

It's about to get really dirty/dusty this weekend which is a shame. But that's what it's made for.

Inside the fuel door is a sticker that says "premium unleaded fuel only".

The headlights on the LC are inferior to the 4runner, at least the high beams are.
With the LC, it's barely perceptible when you switch from low to high.

With the 4Runners I was always impressed with the high beams, they seemed much stronger than other cars I've driven.

So if the new LC is the size of an old four runner, does Toyota make a full size vehicle the size of the old LC?

Yes. That would be the now hybrid only Sequoia. But the rear cargo area is smaller than a Corrola's trunk due to a stupid design with the batteries.
