Any of y'all rolling around with 50% on your windshield? Looking to see if anyone regrets it from a nighttime, rainy driving perspective and or had any other issues such as auto headlights coming on more frequently.

Contemplating going that route on an upcoming tint job.

Understand the legality of it all as well.

TIA

I don't know what 50% looks like but I took tint off windows of a car I bought in November and one I bought last week because it was dangerous at night. One failed inspection over it and the other was even darker but didn't need an inspection due to new rules. One also has a huge tint line on top of the window that I hated. Ended up replacing the windshield due to cracks anyway.

I went with 70%, 55% was too dark on the windshield for me after looking through the Tint guys windshield.

Any tint below the ASI line is illegal in Texas. The windshield is differentiated from windows in the law. You can have a note from your doctor to get darker tint on windows but it does not apply to the windshield.

I have 50% ceramic on the front window, 20% on front doors and 5% over privacy on the rear.

No issues at night.

70% on the windshield, good thing I have bright LEDs so I can see at night.

Sweet. I've been toying with 50% or 70% on the windshield, legal or just below on the front side windows and limo dark on the rest. All ceramic.

Going to visit our guy on the west side soon.

I'll be there Monday getting Mrs 1ags new Expedition tinted.

Same arrangement.

"Windows so dark you need a flashlight to see me…."

I have 80% on two of my vehicles. The place I used would not go any darker than that. I was a little disappointed, but I'm very happy with it now that it's done. 70% might be the sweet spot, but I am really happy with mine as far as heat reduction goes, and that was my purpose.

I have 0% tint on my front windshield. However, I do have the film on the front windshield with UV protection only... enough to keep the cabin cool, and the AC real cool.

You don't need the dark.

I've got 5% ceramic on front, rear and back glass with 50% on w/s. I'll never have anything else going forward. Makes a world of difference in summer time.

I did ceramic with 70% on windshield (no issues at night and helps in summer time), 15% on front (sometimes hard to see at night), and 5% rear and back (no issues).

If that is 50%, that likely makes my mind up. Granted, understand they're prepping it to be placed inside the windshield

Have you not been hassled? Got popped for no front plate and tint in the Porsche a while back. Trooper metered the windows at 19%. Got a warning but went out and got a prescription for window tint after that.

Does front tint help any with starbursts at night? I'm currently running just a ceramic heat film on the front. Really don't want to cut down on night vision when mother nature has already taken care of that for me.

I have 5% on the tahoe and it's way too dark for a DD. I had to add 360 cameras just to see at night.

I just went through hell getting my windshield replaced on my Ranger. Got 2 wavy, blurry ones before finally getting a good one. I'm interested in protecting it from rock chips and cracks so I don't have to do this again. Does the tint film work to stop rocks, or do I need to shop for specific film to protect it? Someone mentioned xpel the other day but said it was really expensive.

Fabian has a new film applied on the outside of the windshield like a PPF.

I did 50% ceramic on my windshield in my last truck. Also did a limo brow above the AS1 line to draw eyes away from the windshield tint. Kept the side windows legal as that seems to draw the most attention from LEOs. That being said, I can easily spot vehicles with 50% windshield tint. The tint darkening the registration sticker is a dead giveaway. I would imagine State Troopers can easily spot it too.

We did 70% (clear ceramic) on the wife's old car windshield and it was definitely much brighter.

Sunglasses give me headaches and the 50% allowed me to drive without them even on the brightest days. It also did not impact night driving at all. The legal 35% side windows are a much bigger hazard at night.

My new (to me) truck came with no windshield tint but what I guess is 20% on the side windows and you have to roll them down at night to see cross traffic entering a dark roadway. I can see vehicles with headlights, but don't feel comfortable pulling out without rolling them down to make sure there's nothing with dim headlights or no headlights.

Will probably change those to 35% ceramic, add 50% ceramic plus limo brow to windshield and 50% ceramic to dual moonroof. The moonroof turns the truck into an oven with the shade pulled back on a sunny day.

Wife insisted on custom European plate on the front, matching the Cali plate ## on the rear. I carry the Cali in the frunk... just in case. 8 years lucky so far.

70% windshield, 5% eyebrow, 20% front D/P, 5% on rears.

If I get a ticket, pay the $120 or whatever and move on
