Well, I have had good luck with F150 V8's, my 2018 is my current one. But my transmission blew up on me at 110,000 miles.

I drove around 10 hours straight and my transmission started slipping and sliding and I couldn't take it any further. I ended up going to Midas based on a recommendation from somebody I knew that lived there.

I was going to take it to a Ford dealership, but due to time constraints I left it at Midas. It wasn't safe to drive and I didn't have time to shop around.

they are going to order me a rebuilt Jasper transmission, with reportedly upgraded parts on the elements of the transmission that commonly fail.

Just curious if anyone had some experience with the Jasper transmission.

I figured. It has a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty. But I may just get a 21 v8 tundra and drop the fords altogether. And that's saying a lot as I have been a ford guy for 30 years.

Jasper nothing.

AER is the authorized rebuilder for Ford.

Sounds like I might go to the school of hard knocks on this. I'll put it to the test once I get it back. It won't be until mid April sometime before I get it back.

For anyone interested I will let you know how it works out. If I don't have any problems with it I may not post to this thread.

If the new ****** blows on me I will have it replaced, sell the truck, and then buy a 2021 or older tundra.

My buddy is putting a Jasper in one of his service trucks now and it has a 3 year warranty. His plan is to get rid of it before that time is up.

It's a work truck for my company too. I have a backup truck but it has 278,000 miles on it.

I will likely do the same as your buddy. I may buy one and put it in storage.

Does the warranty include labor? I had gotten a rebuilt from Advanced auto, can't remember the company that made it. Anyways, started slipping at like 10k miles. Took it to a shop, and they did all the warranty stuff for me. The company sent a new one and I didn't have to pay anything. I was out a truck for a month, but that's better than the labor cost.

Its probably fine. Jasper rebuilds a bazillion transmissions. They're gonna screw up some of them, but the majority of them work fine. You just never hear about the good ones.

That's exactly how I feel about it. Its kind of a roll of the dice no matter who you go with. You may have a little better odds at one place over another, but its still a dice roll.

My brother's tacoma transmission blew out around 90,000 miles, and they found one at a junk yard and it worked out well.

I was told the warranty does include the labor.

That would be very disappointing if it started slipping at 10k miles. I typically keep vehicles until the 250k mark unless something extreme keeps happening.

More than anything I am just hoping for peace of mind, and 120k miles would be great.

Its been 45 days since I picked up the truck with the transmission.

There was some rough shifting at first. I was told though to expect that, as the transmission will learn as you drive it. I thought that sounded like BS at first, but it has smoothed out since. I wouldn't say it is perfectly smooth, you can still feel the gears shift occasionally when slowing down at gears 10 to 8. The lower gears from say 1 to 5 were a little rough, but has smoothed out. Again, I can still feel them though but it is getting better not worse.

I don't have much to complain about after roughly 2,000 miles on it.
