I am wanting to get something fun to drive around on the weekends. Want something with a back seat so I can take both my boys (6 and 8) The 8 year old is obsessed with cars and wants a Blackwing - not sure I can clear that with the wife though... Any non 6 figure suggestions?

What's your budget? Drive the best M3 and S4 you can afford and buy the one that gives you the fizz.

Chevrolet SS? V8 sedan. Great sound and flies under the radar

Volkswagen GTI. Throwing out options In different price ranges

The Infiniti Q50 400 RedSport is surprisingly good

I dont really have a budget - just thinking about what to keep an eye out for. I was thinking muscle car more than hot hatch. Call me crazy (I know, Stellantis) but if the new Charger Daytona was ICE and priced right, I really like the way it looks.
Maybe a CT5 V, but just not go all the way to a Blackwing. Too bad Chevelles and GTOs are a thing of the past...

Why not a 2 door Bronco?

Dude I'd never hate on a Charger with an ICE engine, if you wait a little longer they're putting the Hurricane I6 in it. There's always a couple year old Charger - like a Scat or Hellcat could be fun. It's just hard finding one that hasn't been absolutely trashed and you can't get them new now. CT5 V is sweet too. What about an Alfa Romeo Gulia Quadrifoglio?

CT4-V Blackwing is worth considering. Smaller, but you can get a stick shift, and they are plenty fast.

RS3 with the Daza engine would also be an absolute riot, albeit even smaller inside.

Only if it was a Braptor! (Even then don't think it would really scratch the muscle car itch)

They're just about the perfect age for a 911. Old enough to get themselves in and out but small enough to fit back there just fine. Determine a budget and get the newest one you can afford in that price range.

Well since we have an unlimited budget how about an M5? Great for the family lots of room. Comfortable. Turbocharged V8. What's not to love

I thought you would like this Used 2019 BMW M5 w/ Executive Package for $56999 on Autotrader http://atcm.co/S2PVDP/2C6CD775.

Weekends only - this is a great use case for a Jeep Wrangler - especially if one of the kids is car obsessed.

More fun to drive and can seat 3, I'd go with an E46 BMW M3, or something like a Pontiac G8 with the LS3 V8.

Since you mentioned Blackwing, just do it, you won't regret it. Two friends of mine have bought one after riding in mine (blue one below) and they love theirs too (black and teal ones below). They are infectious!

Man, Mateo your blue Blackwing is sweet!

M3,4, and 5 are all good ideas. There was an M8 just parked across the street from my house... very nice and the same V8 as the M5 I think.

Seems like all the SS and G8s I see are starting to look rough.

911 would be cool. I remember riding in the back of a friend's mom's Targa in the early 80s!

My weekend car is my track car. 2023 Camaro 1LE in rapid blue, but I would hate to drive it in the city for the weekends due to poor visibility

If we are talking strictly a weekend car, I'd get a classic like a

69 Camaro SS
R33 or R34 GTR
Mk4 Supra

One you can sell for about what you paid for it. Doesn't have to be a four seater either. Just take turns. More time for you and one on one time with the boys.

Answer is always Corvette! 1968-72 convertible. You'll be able to sell it for more in about 5 years.

A guy in my neighborhood is selling a C4 convertible for under 20k

Blackwing is the answer here, but good luck finding one in your preferred color and spec.

I occasionally pretend like I'm in the market for one but it's not easy to find one that isn't already spoken for. Plenty of boomers with disposable income that don't mind paying MSRP or higher.

ETA: I drove a Chevy SS for 3 years when my kids were younger, best 38k I ever spent, and I sold it for 40k when I was done with it.

It's hard to overstate how much I love my TLX Type-S. I've added a PRL Stage 1 Kit and have a K-Tune that took it from a 5 second 0-60 to a 4 second. I've taken it to COTA a couple of times and it's just awesome. Hard to beat for a performance car, daily driver, and Honda reliability

I wouldn't rule out the Genesis G70 3.3T. From an ROI perspective, it's hard to beat.
