Looking to get a good all terrain tire for my three quarter ton truck. I do pull our travel trailer quite a bit so I'd be towing with it. What do you guys recommend?

I just run the Michelin AT2.

I drive a lot of highway and got well over their guaranteed mileage. Rotated at every oil change.

The BFG are nice, but they have gotten really pricey.

I've been doing some research on this topic as well.

I am currently leaning towards the Nitto Terra Grappler G3.

I will probably change my mind a few more times before pulling the trigger, though.

I put three sets of Terra Grappler G2s on my Ram 2500 and towed extensively with them without any problems. I would usually get 45-50k miles out of them. They were pretty good in the mud too.

I haven't been around the G3s but I figure they'd be pretty similar to the G2s.

Currently on my work F250 I have Toyo Open Countries and have been very impressed by them. Super quite on the highway and good down muddy dirt roads. I'll probably end up putting a set on my personal F250 but might try the G3s.

The Michelin AT2 is a great tire but I find it really hard to call it an all terrain. If you tow a lot and don't do a lot of off roading I would go with this tire.

I use my 4x4 a lot at the ranch and have gotten stuck several times with the AT2. I switched to the BF Goodrich. They are pricey but have served me very well. My gas mileage did go down compared to the Michelin.

Toyo always was good for me. I prefer the MT to the AT. I got more life out of MTs just a little louder.

I just put a set of Nitto ridge grapplers on my 2500 after having the Michelin LTX AT2s on for 60k miles. The AT2s were great with less road noise but I wanted a better mud grip after getting stuck easily in light mud over the years with the AT2s.
Another 2500 we have has had 2 sets of the BFG ko3 tires and they have a much better mud grip than the AT2s but don't seem to last near as long as the AT2s do.

The nitto ridge grappler is definitely a more aggressive grip/ mud tire than the BFG ko3 so I decided to try these.

Personally, I hate the road noise of my BFG HD Terrains so i'll either be going back to a KO3 or might try the Toyo AT III. All the tires in my size range are around $400 ea.

Anyone running the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss?

A buddy of mine swears by the set he put on, and they look nice.

I was looking at the Legends also.

Ranch "ate" my stock AT2's. Now I run Coopers. Mesquite thorns and sharp rocks necessitate a more durable tire.

I'm a big fan of the Recon Grapplers. I've had 3-4 sets of Terra Grapplers and the Recons wear better and are surprisingly quieter even though they're more aggressive.

I have the baja boss' on my 1500 AT4. I have maybe 35k miles on them. So far so good. A little slick in the rain but no complaints. I'd get them again. I do rotate them every 5-7k miles though.

I went through 2 sets of Ridge Grapplers in less than 25k each on my Ram 2500 CTD. I am now running BFG K03s. I will be rotating them often...We will see...

F350 SRW. Nitto Ridge Grappler have been my go to for last 2 sets.

I had Coopers AT3 but couldn't keep balanced. Finally got discount to swap em and 2nd set wouldn't stay balanced either. Put the Recon Grappler and it rode well till I traded the truck.

I liked the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss but them being cooper owned I was worried I'd have the same balance issue.

May try the Falken Wildpeak next. Price is better than the Nitto's

Anytime you throw an all terrain on your truck, rotate and balance every 6-8k.

Anytime you throw a mud terrain on, rotate every 5-6.

I'm running Toyo open country at3 for the first time. I like them so far.

Had recon graps on my Bronco and Powerboost and they were good but wore funny only on my Bronco.

I have them on my chevy 2500, really like them so far. Dont over air them and rotate every 5k. Much quieter than the Nittos and Coopers had previously run.

I went through several sets of BFG's on my F250. I really liked them but could not get anywhere close to the mileage out of them that were advertised and they are pricy. Switched to Cooper ATP's. On my third set I think. Quiet on pavement for an all terrain tire. Good traction in the mud. I have exceeded their advertised mileage on both of my first two sets. Haul trailers (8000lbs +) with them often and I am off pavement quite a bit. Great tire for what I do to them.

IMHO Michelin LTX AT2 is a great tire if you spend most of your time on pavement. They are not a good off road tire at all, especially in mud

I put on Toyo Open County AT3s on this recommendation.
Ridge Grapplers were good but loud as they wore. Recon Grappler wore funny on my truck.
Yes I know they are owned by the same parent company.

I wanted to try the Mickey Thompsom Baja Legend EXP but couldn't get them shipped in before I had to leave for work. Really wanted the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT but they don't make that in a 295/65r20 where I can get the higher load index compared with the 35x12.5r20.

I haven't been happy with wet performance of my Ridge Grapplers.

Has anyone tried Falken Wildpeaks?
FunnyFarm14

That was on my list as well.
Toyo AT3 got the nod over Ridge Grappler with the wet performance - always felt the Ridge did better on dirt/rocks but wet grass it would slip on.

I bought some Falkens for my baby duramax and absolutely love them. They are quiet and smooth, but heavy. I lost some MPG with them, lol. I may like them more than my Toyo AT3 I had. But I do not tow anything heavy with them.

Got new shoes today. Ended up getting Toyo AT tires, 35". Ended up paying $430/tire. Hopefully that's not a horrible deal?

That sounds about right. Toyos aren't cheap… my KO3s were about that same price too

Not an HD, but I have been beyond impressed, except with the road noise, with the Pathfinder tire from DT. I think its Faulkan, but I don't recall for sure. I was convinced when I first bought the truck (F150) in 2022 I'd be replacing them in a year and a half, but here we are 3+ years later and next year is probably the earliest I'll get to doing that. They handle wet pavement fairly well and while I don't go offroad much, the times I have, they have been fine. I've put over 12K on them in the last 10 mos. without any real issue, although they're just now starting to show some wear. I think they had less than 5K on them when I got the truck, so now, 3.4 years and roughly 35k.

I was thinking dry rot would get to them but so far, it hasn't seemed to. They hold air as well as most any tire I've had, and that includes 2 sets of BFG KOs that went over 70K.

Don't hesitate to get a set if you want to save a little money and/or you won't be driving a lot. Again, road noise will keep me from buying these again unless I have a vehicle that I don't want to spend a lot on for tires.

I only have 3000 or so miles on a set of Toyo AT3s on my SRW F350 and they have been good. Just got to South Carolina pulling our camper and no issues. Nice and quiet.

I had some wildpeaks on my old LBZ duramax. Had a major failure on one of the tires (still within warranty). Replaced the tire only for one of the other remaining tire to fail a few thousand miles later. I guess with all things YMMV, but I got a bad batch and it's left a sour taste in my mouth on Falken's.

Since I went from the tiny factory tires to 35" tires do you suggest I recalibrate my speedometer? Who does this?
