I have a similar question. Kinda.

I have a 2001 SUV that is a daily driver. The paint looks as expected from a 25 year old car. I drive through the automated carwashes twice a week with the allegedly "ceramic" coating option. I will say that my paint looks like it has gotten better with all of the car washes! lol.

I was thinking about getting ceramic coating, but maybe that's not what I'm looking for? I guess I should just pay to have someone wax, clay, whatever, etc.

Anyone have a guy or a place in Montgomery, Conroe, Woodlands area? What is the going rate?

I spent a few thousand dollars on paint correction, ceramic, and PPF on my CT5V Blackwing in 2023. This was a brand new vehicle - and the paint did look MUCH better after all that.

That being said, I think the idea of these ceramic coatings lasting 3, 5, or 9 years (like some of them advertise) is ridiculous. My car was much easier to wash during the first 6 months, but after that, I don't think the ceramic does much if anything.

I would 100% do the PPF again, but not the ceramic.

I wouldn't pay the $1000 a dealer wants to do it, but I've had great results with a DIY ceramic. About the same effort as a clay/wax and lasts a lot

I'll disagree. I have coated my last 2 trucks, I do everything, including the glass. My current truck just turned 3 years old, I still don't have to use the wipers when raining.

That said, my truck is parked in the garage, I work from home. It does not get outside much compared to most vehicles.

If you're using commercial car washes. it's not worth the money to ceramic coat.

The harsh chemicals used in them will strip the coating much faster than weather exposure
