Drove one yesterday.

Brought it to the house and hooked up my flatbed with about 5k lbs of steel pipe that I hadn't unloaded yet. for a total of +/- 7.5k.

Towed it like it wasn't even there. Set the cruise and it pulled it up and down several rolling hills that would have needed a downshift or two in my HD truck and didn't skip a beat. The torque numbers and instant response was pretty wild.

Never though an EV work truck would become a reality, but I'm pretty impressed. Major downfall, no ability to install a gooseneck.

My current rig has over 350k so I've been looking at the Ramcharger, but it was delayed... again.

How quickly did the range decline while pulling the loaded trailer?

Yep, good luck finding a charger every 60-80 miles while towing a heavy load.

The onboard dusplay immediately recalculated the range as soon as I hooked up the trailer. About a 40-45% reduction.

This isn't a Lightning. Based on the math from my actual use, I'd put the towing range around 200 miles.

Mountains likely less. MAX towing also lower. I did NOT use the heavy regen braking because I am not used to "one pedal driving." Folks familiar with the regen capability of the truck say it's pretty significant when towing and significantly improves range.

To your point on charging stations, they are all over the place now and the mapping software plans stops along your route.

Yes charging stations are in more and more places however most, if not all, are usually back in only. So the only realistic way to use many of them is to unhitch, charge, then hitch again. Or you can be a jack ass and pull across all 8 open stalls like the guy in the cybertruck I saw a few weeks ago.

The Silverado simply has more battery to do more towing.

On the flip side of that coin is it takes longer to charge a big battery.

If most of your towing is within a 200 mile round trip, this could be a legitimate option as long as you eat lunch near a charger.

Exactly. There are 4 sale barns within 50 miles and I get my hay within 50 miles too.

I'm not hauling a travel trailer so one way of most of my towing is empty trailer.

With a towing capacity that's near my 3/4 ton and a decent charging network in the areas I frequent, this might be viable.

If I were in West Texas or the plains, I wouldnt even consider it.

Cliff notes: The Silverado EV wins thru brute force from a large battery pack
