How long until you can control features in your car by voice? Not talking siri and phone stuff, but same idea with vehicle controls. Like, 'hey car, turn on the wipers', or, 'hey car, unlock the doors'. Why isn't this a thing yet? Instead, I have a touch screen designed by 12 year old chinese kids and it takes me seven menu layers to turn off the lane assist, while I am driving. Why isn't this a thing yet?

Tesla has a lot of voice controlled stuff. A lot. This weekend we test drove a couple of Mercedes and they did as well. It's here. Just depends on what you want to control.

Android Auto guy here so I keep up on proposed new features. Articles have speculated, based on code added in the last version, that voice command for climate controls, entertainment, etc. is very near.

So does BMW. It's really annoying having it respond any time you say BMW in the car

Hell my 2012 F150 had voice control climate. Now, it only worked 10% of the time..

That's funny. Mercedes works like Siri so the wake phrase is Hey Mercedes. For Tesla you push a button on the steering wheel. I don't think there is a wake word for it.
