We bought a 2024 Expedition on Monday in Victoria. It was their loaner vehicle with 2.5K miles on it. We live in Houston and have put about 350 miles on it since purchase. Today on an errand run, the engine started shaking bad, the car smelled like gas and some smoke started coming out of the engine on the passenger side.

Anyone have any guesses or thoughts on what the issue may be?

Check fuel lines; injectors, high pressure fuel pump any place that might have a major leak of gasoline..

Past that check turbo piping.

The reading came through on the ford app. It sent 2 notices. First, there was a severe misfire. Second, low fuel system pressure from either poor fuel quality or restricted fuel filter.

It is struggling to start and the battery light was also coming on when it started on the 2nd try.

Crazy to think you can have it for 4 days from the dealership and have these issues but they would have been unaware.

I was extremely close to buying a demo/GM use vehicle (whatever they want to call it) last week that had 3,800 miles on it but didn't because I was afraid of how that engine might have been broken in. Maybe this is just a random event though. At least it's under warranty!

From the symptoms and the codes, it seems like you may have a severe fuel leak on the passenger side.

It's under warranty. Have it towed it in. I think you have a high pressure fuel pump issue.

Any Ford dealer will honor the warranty.

I know 3 people that have bought a demo model in recent years all with about 5k miles. None have had a problem. I wouldn't be too concerned about it. I assumed they were manager rides, but never asked.
