My daughter was in an accident and it totalled her suv. Luckily she wasn't injured nor was it her fault.

Shes looking at either a 2024 or 2023. Thoughts?

Some of the cheapest POS GM makes. Go Toyota Rav4 or Corolla Cross even if you have to go higher miles to get equivalent pricing.

Can someome elaborate? I know this board has an unhealthy hatred for GM.

Currently Chevy sells only three motors worth buying.

2.7 turbo 4
6.6 v8 gas
6.6 v8 diesel

The 2.5 offered in the big Buick crossover is based on the 2.7 so it may also be good.

You forgot whatever engines are offered in the Corvette, but otherwise correct

I had a 2012 Equinox - it was great for 90% of the time I owned it. Unfortunately it had the 4 cyl engine with the oil consumption issue (that I found out about & missed the class action lawsuit on it); That issue killed 2 timing belts (one covered under extended warranty - the other not replaced prior to getting rid of vehicle) catalytic converter (not covered - but GM sent a letter about it - but again, I missed the date cutoff);

But TBH - I do miss the vehicle.

Funny thing is I've always been a GM guy. Down to just one in my stable, a 2007 Tahoe with 250k miles.

Test drove a Terrain back in 2015 when I needed a new daily driver. Could have gotten a brand new one for about $15k out the door but I could not force myself to buy it. The Hyundai I bought instead has also been a total POS.

I despise Toyota designs and their unwillingness to allow a customer to decide what they want versus forcing their desired build specs on you. But they still build pretty reliable vehicles.

Its all good. I just wanted some details because "POS" can mean different things to different folks. Like, is it the interior? Transmission? Either way, she has a friend that has one and the friend loves her's and I think she has her heart set on it. I didn't realize that though until this morning.

She had a 2016 Equinox. Which I've known others to talk bad against and saw in person one that was very faulty. She had a lot of luck with her's and hated that it got totaled.

Traverse is the same as the Acadia. Still not great quality but a slight step up from the Terrain due to the price point

My folks had a 2013 Acadia which was a POS. Had multiple roof leaks the dealer couldn't fix. Clear coat failing on multiple panels. Interior falling apart.

They turned around and bought a new 2018 Acadia that had similar issues with interior quality. When it was totaled last year, the clear coat failed on 3 out of 4 wheels. All of the black trim had its UV coating flaking off, the interior center console armrest was destroyed, and they had a few out of warranty mechanical repairs.

My folks are in their 70s and not hard on vehicles.

I corrected my response. She had a 2016 Equinox. Loved it, had a lot of luck with that SUV

I saw something the other day along the lines of... If you want to buy the same car every 5 years for the next 15, get a Terrain/Acadia. If you want a buy a car for the next 15 years buy a RAV4.

My wife drives a Toyota Highlander. It has been a very solid car. No mechanical issues for over 6 years. My SIL is on his second Subaru. He put almost 300k on his first one and decided he needed one that was bigger. It is a nice ride as well.

In the process of trading my 2014 in now for a 2026. Should take delivery tomorrow. I love mine. Yes, the engine isn't going to win any races, but that's not what's most important to me. It was dependable and reliable. Before that I had a 05 Canyon and really like the newer generation of those too but I never used the bed and those are considerably more than the Terrain so I made the SUV switch in 2014

I know you mentioned maybe a 23, but might price a new 2025. The 2025 redesign brought in a lot more safety/tech features as standard equipment.

You left off the 3.0 Duramax, which is the best half ton engine on the market right now.

It's the 6.2 V8, tuned differently and has some other differences than the truck version.
