So here's a fun one, going through the car wash and my keypad became detached from my truck. What is the best way to reattach this with the clip on the back being broke off?

I used double sided 3M tape.

Bought one from Ford for 52 bucks, but as the video shows, it's a royal PIA to install because of the wire routing. Wound up just robbing the cover off the new one, cut the damaged one off the truck and snapped it back on. .

Wait, so this isn't an isolated ordeal?

Happened to my Raptor. I ordered new keypad and just swapped out housing and buttons.

Happened to my '19 Lariat last year. Driving on l-10 to Houston and I kept hearing a whistle like a window was open. Didn't notice it until we got home from a restaurant that evening. Thought for sure someone tried to break in. Finally realized there's several YouTube vids about it.

I do go thru car washes often, so I suspect that's what caused it. Now when I go thru car washes, I tape the sides of the keypad to prevent damage.

Does Ford know the 1980's were 40+ years ago?

They got rid of the keypads and the message boards exploded with complaints. in the 20 years I've had a truck with them, I've used it just a few times and not since I got my 2018.

Now, it's a dealer added accessory.

I love the keypad. I use it all the time on my F-250. Makes me never want to go back to not having it

This, eliminates going out to get something out of your truck and realizing it's locked and having to go back to find the keys and then hike back to the truck. Keypads are awesome, Ford just should have done a better job securing it.

I found out mine was broken on the way home from the dealership. Those sleaze bags at Shottenkirk Toyota in Weatherford managed to conceal it good enough to make the sale.

I really liked having it, also. But don't really miss it either in my 25. I mean if for whatever reason I need to get in my truck but don't have my keys.....probably 99% chance I have my phone. Is the keypad easier? Sure, but not worth the dealer add on, IMO.
