Has anyone put this on their car and if so, would you recommend it? It seems pretty expensive unless you do it yourself.

I think it's worth it if it's a daily driver doing miles on the highway. It's pretty much impossible for a newbie to just order it and install on a bumper or a mirror cap. My wife's car is a daily driver but she only travels 4 miles on a 2 lane country road to work, and she has PPF on the front, front fenders, hood, and mirror. We noticed a couple little gouges or raised areas that would have been paint chips. It can be worth it for sure.

I wouldn't do it if you plan on keeping the vehicle for 15 years unless you're willing to redo it every 5 or so years.

I'd never pay for it and I'd expect a discount if the car I wanted to buy had it on it.

Never would again - left on first vehicle too long and had to sand off and repaint it. That vehicle sat in the garage too. Bought another 3 yr old car with it and removed it at year 5. The things are a nightmare if left on.

We have it on all 5 cars. It works well. Have not had problems with yellowing or peeling or anything like that. Rock chips are a pet peeve of mine.

I hate rock chips, too. I'm contemplating applying this on the MDX we just got. It's expensive, though. I have it on my truck and it works well.

Distortion at the PPF line is pretty easy to spot. It looks terrible after a few years if you enjoy shiny cars, but it does protect the paint.

Abso-freakin-lutely NOT. Stay far away from that stuff unless you want to be scraping it off in a few years of texas summers.

EOT

For the 5k that the PPF guy is going to charge you, you can take your car in and have a professional touch up your paint any time you want if you're the type to keep cars a long time and still come out way ahead.

I go a step further than aggiepaintrain and I will not buy a car with PPF on it.
