Bought my son a Super Cab 2WD F150 a couple of years ago.

Recently it started throwing a misfire and lean code on cylinder 5. We gave it several high concentrated doses of Seafoam, but it kept throwing the same codes.

I decided It had to be the injector. Researched it and decided to upgrade injectors from stock to injectors from a 1997 5.0 and beyond. Stock injectors had one hole v upgraded injectors w/ 4 holes.

After removing the EGR, throttle body, plenum and other top end mechanicals, I removed the fuel rail and stock injectors. Sweated balls and I don't know how much went into the intake.

Son helped and probably learned new swear terms and proper flashlight handling techinques, but we got er done.

Took several cranks to get fuel pressure up, but she finally came to life. Belched white smoke from the exhaust and I can only figure it was our sweat burning that ended up in the intake. After a test drive opening her up she smoothed out and throttle response was a major improvement. Codes gone away.

Major win after a long day.

Dear Diary...

Where'd you get the new injectors? Tons of counterfeit "new" motorcraft injectors on ebay and Amazon.

I did the same job on my Bronco a few years ago and ended up with counterfeit "new old stock" injectors. This was before the epidemic of fakes out there. Several of the replaced injectors ended up sticking open after a few months.

That's a not fun job having to remove the upper plenum to get to the passenger side rail.

Got them off Amazon. Ford P/N F77E-9J460-AB. They looked genuine and were marked w/ Ford logo and P/N.

Now you got me worried...

Amazon or 3rd party seller?

If from Amazon, chances of them being OEM are greater, but I still wouldn't put it past Amazon to directly sell counterfeits as it helps the bottom line.

Nice job. Always feels great when the test drive validates the hard work.

i don't think it matters. Amazon as a seller doesn't control the supply chain, so still a good risk of getting fakes.

maybe you will get lucky. keep an eye on mileage and performance.

How much per injector did you pay? If you got 8 for <$200, they're most likely a counterfeit. New "OEM" Delphi injectors are ~$80 each and ~$45 each for a reman. Generic injectors new are ~$30 each typically. New Motorcrafts are $120+ each

Mine were in OE looking bosch boxes with "holograms" on them.

Sad the state of supply chains and how you have to worry about BS like this.
