Drove to college station. Got out of the truck with it running and with the key inside.
No key fob detected it says on the screen. Went to Heb and replaced the key fob battery with a new one
Same. And of course it's in a tow away zone on a Sunday….

Bought truck 2024.

Nm. Found the video on putting the fob in cup holder

Edit to add. First Ford in 35 years and my Chevys have never done this.

it's your truck telling you it wants a lift and 35s

No. I'm a full size, 6'2" 200lb. grown man. I have Nothing to compensate for by adding a lift and tires.

After putting the key fob in the cup holder, it started the truck. And since then, it's worked fine normally- without putting it in the cup holder.

Would the fob battery have gone bad after only 18 months? With the new battery added, it wouldn't work until I put it in the cup holder. But since it's fine. Even remotely this morning.

I have never in my life changed a key fob battery.

Current F150 is 3+ years old, previous one I traded exactly 4 years after buying it, and the truck before that I had for 12 years. Both fobs on the 12 year old truck worked perfectly.

I have a Palisade and need to change the fob battery every 3-4 months; I think the car talks to the fob more often now than in the past and runs the battery down quicker.

I've changed batteries on key fobs multiple times. I'd say every 3-4 years. This is for both my wife's and my vehicles. Changed out the batter on her Audi key fob yesterday. First time and that car is 3 1/2 years old, I had to google how to do it.

I've never once had to put the key fob in the slot in the cup holder to get it to register (have had F150s for 15 years).

Could have been frequency interference. This just happened to three different Ford vehicles at my son's gated apartment complex. My son's F150, my F150 and my brother-in-law's Expedition all experienced the no fob detected. The entry gate has a reader for the mirror hanger and this may have interfered with the fob frequency. I had to put the fob in the cup holder to start my vehicle.

That is Exactly where it happen. At the gate of the heights apt complex on Holleman. The gate was open for move in but there must have been a frequency still I guess.
but my son has a ford also and has never had a problem.

Back home yesterday afternoon and no problem since it happened there
