Anyone know of a place in the BCS area that could install aftermarket cruise control? We've got a 2018 Ford Transit that came with none of the bells and whistles and we're planning on taking a pretty long road trip soon.

We got one quote in town, I think it was from Ag Solar Guard, to install a Rostra cruise control kit (been a few months so I may be a little light on the details) for around $1000. That might be reasonable, but I'd like to shop around first.

I tried my mechanic and the Ford dealership first, and they were both a no-go on it.

Appreciate any leads someone might have.

No recommendations on an installer, but I installed a Rostra kit on my 2005 Express camper van about 5 years ago. If you can get a copy of the install manual for your application (or find a YouTube video) you might be able to do it yourself if you're DIY inclined. The hardest part for me was figuring out which wire had the vehicle speed signal and then accessing it near the ECU. These Posi-Taps made it much easier to tap into the wire in a difficult to access location:

Rostra has a great kit that will work, but really, if you swap the steering wheel to a cruise wheel, you can enable it with Forscan and have factory cruise.

My buddy just paid about $1000 as well for aftermarket cruise control in Sulphur Springs. We were both surprised that the '22 Maverick XL he had just purchased did not come with cruise, but he didn't pay close attention until it was purchased.

You could have bought the steering wheel buttons and turned it on with forscan. Less than 150 bucks with a one year license.

This is hands down the way to go over any aftermarket kit.

So as it turns out, my friend had not yet had the $1000 aftermarket cruise control installed. So I offered up this solution. Long story short - I installed the cruise control based on this video on Sunday. Friend is thrilled. $200 in parts instead of $1000.
