I changed the air filter and the cabin air filter yesterday in my 2023 F-250 and now this light is on. Could it be related to the filters or is this something else?

Have the code read to see what the code is

I'd guess its related to the engine air filter. Maybe everthing didn't get buttoned up. If you forgot to latch one latch or screw in one screw it can cause a check engine light to come on.

Did you unplug something by accident?

It never ceases to amaze me that with all of the screens and modern technology in cars these days, they still can't display a simple error code on the screen.

But then people wouldn't panic and go to the dealer.

I'm baffled by this too. Ag machinery has displayed trouble code numbers and a description of what is wrong for over a decade now. I understand older cars that don't have screens but anything with a screen should have the code displayed with a description.

This is one thing Elon has done right with Tesla. The car shows you the errors. You can schedule service right from the Tesla app. Repair updates are decent w/o having to constantly call the service advisor, and if you want to do your own repairs, the factory service manuals are all available for free. No hourly fees, no 1st/3rd party scan tools, just easy to access technical info.

I've jumped through too many hoops with different manufacturers to get access to dealer repair info. They should all make it as easy as Tesla.

I have a 2014 F150...
Couple years ago I had an aftermarket Alpine head unit installed to get an 8in screen with Android Auto etc. That head unit will let me read the code associated with a CEL.

But yes, you're absolutely correct!

One more question about this ordeal. After installing a new cabin air filter, I noticed significant reduction in air flow coming out of the ac vents. Is this because it's a HEPA air filter and not a regular one? Would that make a difference? And yes, I already confirmed that I installed it the correct way to air flow.

HEPA filter is much more dense/restricted and forces the system work harder. Skip HEPA unless system was designed for it. Also get a code reader from AMZN, they are cheap.

HEPA air filters are denser and more restrictive so it would make sense that there is less air flow. Personally I'd just run with standard filters unless there is some specific reason why you are need HEPA.
