Guys,

I wanted to see if someone might be able to help put a value on a 69 Chevelle Malibu. Long story short this was our dad's car, and it has been sitting in a covered barn for the last ~6 years or so. It's a rolling chassis, with as far as we know all of the OEM badging, glass, seats, etc.

It has a rebuilt 454 motor in it, hasn't been started in at least the 6 years it's sat, but was running when it was put in the car.

We don't know all the details about the car, but have the title in hand, and are hoping someone more knowledgeable than us can help put a fair valuation on it. A few pictures are attached, but can grab images of whatever else may be needed.

Thanks!

Probably not as much as you'd hope for, sounds like the motor is not original to the car.

In its current state I'd say $5k, assuming you have all the parts to put it back together. If you can get it running and driving you'll get more.

I'm not well versed in Chevelles, but I imagine if you wanted a response from someone who is you'd need to post more details like the VIN and cowl tag, info on whether you have numbers matching engine/transmission/etc., what differential is in it, underbody/rust state, mileage, and more pictures and condition of any original and/or included parts and upgrades/mods.

Restoring something like this will be a labor or love or an investment in something rare (if it is in some way a rare car), but knowing more specifics would determine what kind of car you're selling.

Thanks! Yeah I figured it wouldn't be especially rare or valuable, it has just been sitting and taking up space so we're looking to move on.

If anyone knows a place that doesn't charge 100k to get this thing put together painted and running I would appreciate any input.

Every dollar you put into it will probably return about 50 cents when you go to sell. Take all the parts you have, assemble it as best you can, and the list for sale. I'd take the first offer you get with 4 digits.

I would guess that someone like Doug may be interested in this.

Derek over at Vice Grip Garage would buy that up, sight unseen, and put it in a "will it make it home"' revival video on YouTube. He loves him some old Chevelles in that condition and shape, especially one with a 454. Id email him at vicegripgarage@gmail.com

He sometimes pulls total beaters out of a field and gets them to a level where someone can finish a restoration project. I don't know that I've seen him fully restore one but maybe?

At least talk to him and get his opinion.
