I have a 2022 F-150 Powerboost with a level kit. I currently have 285/50/22 Nitto Ridge Grapplers and need new tires. I was just going to replace with the same tire but was looking at the 275's for a slimmer profile so the tires are not wider than body, but one concern is the the smaller diameter (0.70 inches).

Thoughts? Anyone ever made this change or do you think it's small enough I won't notice in the long-run?

So the 285's only stick out past the body by 5mm or are you expecting 275's to also stick out beyond the body?

The diameter is negligible.

I'm pretty sure 275s are the factory width, so not sure what the concern is. 275/60r20 or 275/50r22 should be what comes on the higher trim trucks.

I have aftermarket rims and tires. Main concern is the width which is why I have a preference to go to the 275 so they don't stick out, but not wanting to drastically reduce the height.

TBH, I'm probably splitting hairs at this point.

Yeah, the issue you have is with your wheels, not tires. If 285's are noticeably beyond the body, 275's will also be noticeably beyond the body.

Yep. Went Jeeping last weekend with a friend who had upgraded his wheels and tires.
Both Jeeps were 2020 JLUs.

My tires were the factory 33" tires on 17 inch wheels at 285mm width.
His tires were 35" tires on aftermarket 20 inch wheels at 295mm width.

The difference in width of the vehicles was 5"

The tire footprint of my Jeep was 75" wide, his was 80" wide.

This became very apparent on some tight trails where he had to keep running over stuff that I was able to drive around.

I have a 2021 Powerboost (same thing), and have figured out the exact offsets, max tire size (due to rubbing), etc.

Please review this link to a post I made with detail :
