I have a Ford F250 with CarPlay and an iPhone with iOS 18.7.2. One of them must have recently updated the software because they are not working well together. There are several issues but the most annoying is that my phone will auto connect to the WiFi in the in pick-up but because it is on a WiFi, the phone tries to receive data from the Ford but it does not provide data. The WiFi is just used to communicate with the phone. So then I sometimes receive a message (but not always) to use cellular data. After I select cellular data, it works fine.

I never had any of these issues. They just started a few month ago? Is anyone else having issues with their iPhone and the interface with Ford CarPlay?

I have a F150 with carplay. no issues on my end (ios 18 and most recently ios 26).

Why do you have the truck wifi on? turn the wifi radio off in your head unit to not allow wifi. you should only need that for some over the air ford software updates. even if you leave it on, disconnect your phone from the device history so it won't connect to the truck wifi

ETA: ios26 blows - don't upgrade. i hate everything about it.

I've had issues with Siri and CarPlay for well over a year (long before iOS 26). Siri flat out stopped working on CarPlay iOS 18.

I have not tried her since finally upgrading to 26.

My recent Apple iOS experience is starting to feel more and more like my Android experience before I switched back in 2018 - buggy and having to constantly futz with it to get **** to work.

I hate the lag or delay when using CarPlay.

My 2020 f250 has always had CarPlay problems. Sometimes it'll show up on the screen, sometimes it won't, but still shows connected. I've tried different cords, phones and switched between the usb and usb c slots with no luck. Very annoying.

I have a 2016 f250 lariat. My screen does not have apple carplay. Does anyone know if there is a way to install carplay on it or if I would have to get a whole new screen for that?

You'll have to change the APIM for a sync 3 APIM that has Apple CarPlay.

I checked the settings and it says it is a sync3 screen. I don't see a usb port anywhere though.

Mine is in the center console, towards the front.
