Eight month old F150. Just got it out of the shop and they said they just needed to update the software, Still not working correctly, screen blanks out and won't recognize my iPhone at intermediate times. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

Plugged in via cord at the same time as connected to Bluetooth? Asking because the Ram service guy very directly told me to not have it plugged into a media port at the same time as using CarPlay over Bluetooth or else it's going to glitch out. My truck has a charge only port and I can have it plugged into that with no issue.

He also mentioned that Apple cords seem to work better than aftermarket amazon cords for some reason.

CarPlay uses the vehicle's wifi system, not Bluetooth. Also, in a Ford, you can't connect to both, it's one or the other.

I wish I could offer solutions, I've never had issues with CarPlay in my truck.

Have you tried CarPlay in another vehicle? I ended up having to get my phone replaced because it was a device issue, not a CarPlay issue. If my phone connected to CarPlay wired or wirelessly, it would crash both the car's CarPlay system and my phone. Happened on all 3 of our cars with CarPlay

I have an F150 and exclusively use carplay. honestly, I think carplay just glitches out sometimes based on the software and has nothing to do with ford.

mine has been steady lately but for sure have had some periods in the past with annoying bugs.

I would delete/unpair everything on the truck side and the phone side restart phone, and repair.

I also have parts of my commute where the phone drops out everyday. there can be locations with too much interference and will come back after a while.

Fords can have wifi/bluetooth on and plugged in with no interference. it will choose what it wants. Sometimes i turnoff wifi to force wired connection to get the higher audio quality.

The Car Play in my Pilot glitches out periodically too. Might just be a Car Play thing.

On my 2023 Ram l can reboot the radio by holding down the power button until the screen clears. When it comes back up CarPlay will work fine.

This. Make sure if you are plugged into the USB, it is a power only USB. Like the one in the Rayer of the center console, or use a cigarette lighter adapter in the PowerPoint. Plugging into the USB under the climate control and using wireless CarPlay will confuse the truck.

Do you lose connectivity in the same spot? Mine drops in the same exact spots. My expedition dos it as well so I know it's not my F-150 specifically. I suspect it has to do with interference from airport navigation beacons.

Yup. There are spots on. 290 where CarPlay dies and the head unit crashes.

Mine has been better lately, but would drop out at the same section of i35 every day, coming or going. Never considered it might be the Georgetown airport but it makes sense.

I have spots like this in College Station and Bryan. I figured it was some sort of wifi drop out or cell phone signal tower switch.
