2014 Highlander, about 105k miles. Pressing the brake pedal while reversing makes a click/clunk and sounds like it is down near the pedals. It is a one time noise each time the pedal is pressed. It only happens when putting it into reverse after driving somewhere, like backing into the driveway or a parking spot. It does not make the noise when backing out of a parking spot, for example; only after it has been driven and then reversed before turning it off. There is no noise when shifting it into drive and going forward. Any thoughts on what it might be?
Braking ability is not affected at all. It's just a noise, but not sure what it is or if I should be concerned. Brake pads and rotors were replaced about 15k miles ago and appear to have plenty of life left.
My son had been driving it for the last 3 years. He bought his first car and returned the Highlander to us a few weeks ago, so I'm not sure how long it's been happening, and he couldn't tell me.
TIA
