I have a very simple defeater for GM vehicles that I would sell you for reasonably cheap. You take one nut off the battery and one plug, and that's it. Used on my 24 Sierra and worked like a champ.

They have that feature to meet stupid federal regulations. The only way to make suvs get 25 mpg per EPA regs is to shut the motor off at stoplights.

2 of our3 vehicles have a button to turn it off. Pretty easy. One you have to go through the monitor to turn off. Really pain in the rear. Need to find a better fix on that one. And on that one the front end automatically lowers at the stop phase. Really dumb.

Fk having to push the button everytime you get in. I got a plug n play device for my explorer that works like a charm! Recently got FORscan to turn it off on the f150 as well. Best upgrades ive ever done to any vehicle!

I'd research your options to defeat it for whatever suvs you are interested in buying. I know the new jeeps have after market modules that can deactivate it and for my Honda I was able to buy a decice that is wired between the button and the ecu that just sends the single like it was pushed each time I start the car so it defaults to off.

I had a Mazda CX-50 as a rental this week and it did not appear to have it. If it did, at least it didn't kick in and piss me off. Seemed like a pretty solid no frills vehicle that didn't totally suck all around.

Defeaters are around $200. I have one on my Acura and wife has one on her Yukon. Get the SUV you want. Cheap and easy fix

I think the Porsche Macan and Cayenne are a one time push of a button to disable, at least that's how it works in their sports cars. Also, if you put it in sport or sport+ (need to have sport chrono package) it doesn't use auto start/stop.

Wife's Pallisade has it, but has a button to turn it off each time you start it up. Dumb feature, but at least you can temporarily disable.

Same on my 23 f150. Iirc, that's the last year the delete was available from the Ford factory due to the chip shortage then. I'll buy a new one when Ford offers the delete again.
Wife's 25 Escalade has the stupid button and we Hate the feature but with the extended warranty and reported 6.2 engine problems, I'm reluctant to bypass it.

Honda's have the button, but on my wife's CRV, the stop/start only activates if you fully depress the brake pedal.

You come to a stop at a light or stop sign but don't have the brake peddle fully depressed, a little notice will appear on the dash "to engage auto-stop, fully depress brake pedal". Which more manu. would do it this way.

Basically you have to jam the peddle down to get it to activate.

Evidently some of the 6th generation 4Runners have it, and some do not. I had a SR5 as a rental last year and it did not have stop/start on it. Toyota could confirm which ones do and do not have it if it's not on every one of them.

Plug in. Don't even need to cut/splice the wires. 5 minutes to install, 2 minutes to uninstall.

Autostop is hell on VVT engines. If anything, keeping the autostop will kill your engine faster

True in my Cayenne. Button push every time it starts.
