My '19 Silverado is in the shop again due to a possible issue (another) with the 8-speed transmission. I've had it re-programmed twice in the seven years I've owned it, and I'm aware of it's crappy issues. I'm really hoping that I don't have to replace the entire transmission since it's now out of warranty ($5-7K replacement cost).

If I must, I'll consider trading it in for something gently used. I'm not married to the idea of having a truck, but I also love V8's. There are some very good deals on Armada's right now. Does anyone know of any issues or pitfalls with them?

I dont know about the new ones with the v6, but the older models had the titan powertrain which is bulletproof. it will drink gas though.

I like them

Yeah, I'm looking at something like this one here. It has the V8. I'm okay with thirsty engines; I know what I'd be getting myself into.

We had the trans in our 2016 Yukon swapped twice and third ones acting up. They won't replace a third under warranty. I called Gene Brown trans in San Antonio and he said we shoulda had the. Rebuild the first one. They do 4-6 a week he said. They beef all the components up in the weak areas and a complete rebuild was like $3500 compared to the 7k we paid first. Said the swaps from Napa suck, the original was built better. That's the route I'm going when this one finally craps.

My wife has a 23 or 24 armada. The last year of the V8. She loves it and we have not had any problems with it.

Look at V8 Sequoia as well. Prices are a bit higher than Armadas, but that's the Toyota premium and the fact there were less built. Nissan sold a ton of Armadas and Qx80s to rental companies as well as public, so the supply is higher = prices lower.

Armada is good with turbo v6 or v8.

Armada is the same as the QX80, so take a look at that if you want a nicer ride.

Make sure you confirm whether the model you are looking at is 2WD or 4WD. The one you linked is 2WD.

Otherwise, it's a great choice - get the highest trim level you can afford and enjoy the big brain decision over spending more for a Sequoia or Infiniti

I don't really need 4WD, to be honest, so 2WD is perfectly fine.

Read thread title as Nissan Altima, came here for the comments. Leaving disappointed.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

My wife has a '24 platinum model. Had no problems with it to date, and it is a nice vehicle. Rides nice, plenty of power. It does drink gas though. The power train is what I was interested in. I prefer naturally aspirated vs the smaller turbocharged engines.

I hear they hold up better than the Spanish Armada……

Common concerns with the Armada include reliability issues on certain year models, high fuel consumption and some safety-related defects such as brake and transmission problems on older models. Newer models improved in some areas but still draw complaints for electronic glitches, poor mileages and occasional drivetrain or sensor faults.

Certain year models including 2017 (first year of redesign) are prone to more complaints than other year models including complaints about transmission behavior such as rough or delayed shifting, hesitation from a stop, and in some cases faulty torque converters or valve bodies requiring expensive repairs. Fuel economy is a consistent concern with many drivers struggling to exceed around 1214 mpg in mixed driving.

Later Armadas (2017 onward) are sometimes criticized for infotainment and electronics issues, including frozen or endlessly rebooting touchscreens, inconsistent smartphone integration, and false forwardcollision warnings from radarsensor glitches.

Edit: Disregard. I had comments on the new Armada which isn't a V8

Do you have 1st hand experience with the Armada or QX80? Looks like an AI response, that I'm assuming the OP already gathered on their own.

Genuinely asking because we are looking at a QX80, so following this thread.

Aesthetically, the Armada looks a little more rugged while the QX80 looks a little more luxurious. I prefer the looks of the Armada, but I'm intrigued by the potential for a QX80 as well. Is the ride in the Armada Premium any different than the QX80 in a 2024 model (with the V8)?
