So I bought my car the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and when I got it, after we signed the initial agreement, they tried to set me up with their online features, and someone else was already signed up for the car. They deleted that person, set me up and everything went as planned.

So after a month, I hadn't received my windshield sticker for my plates, and so I responded to a dealer follow-up email, but no response. And no information about making my first payment.

I got a call today saying there was a problem with my contract because the car was already under contract with another buyer when they sold it to me. They said I need to make a payment through the dealer, and everything will be fine.

They said I don't need to do anything else, but it has me nervous. Besides following up again on sticker for the plates, anything else I should worry about?

We financed through the manufacturer's finance company, and I called the number I had for them. It said I was up to date on payments, which I knew was wrong. So I created an account on their website. My car was there. The loan amount was there. No flags for late payment. But it said my next payment was due 12/27/2025. And I didn't see a way to make a payment.

So I went to the dealership. After talking with the finance department, I paid the payment there and got a paper itemized receipt. They said that should kick off everything else. If I still have any issues, I'll be using the link above.

The account is active now on the lender's website and I'm 19 days past due on the payment. I think I have it sorted out with the lender, but I'll have to keep an eye on it to make sure it gets processed. And, also of course, I'll need to make a second payment next week to get back on track. Lovely.
