Anyone have any experience with this? Pretty sure it only occurs during the colder winter months, as I think I remember first noticing it towards the end of last winter. But maybe it's just not as noticeable in the warmer months for whatever reason.

It smells more like buring rubber or plactic than oil to me, and the other day I popped the hood while it was running and could see a little bit of smoke come up from under the back of the engine.

Seems to work its way back through my vents to some degree sometimes when sitting at a light if there's not much of a breeze. Even after truck has been off for a while there's a bit of a burn smell under the hood, seems to mostly be around the passenger side fuse box behind the windshield fluid container.

Any feedback would be much appreciated. Hoping it's not dangerous to breathe...it's pretty faint when I can smell it inside

I have a different truck with a different motor, but I have had the same issue. Turned out to be an oil leak that would drip on the exhaust near the turbo.

Might see if you can trace it to an oil leak.

Just 'fixed' it on my Pacifica. The valve cover gaskets were too hard (common theme on ALL my gaskets) and a small drip would drip onto the exhaust manifold.

Took 1/2 day to get the valve covers off and changed the spark plug gaskets, VVT gaskets and the main gasket and after 2-3 days, it has burned off and no more smell or smoke.

Thanks guys, I guess it's possible it's oil. I have to stop by the mechanic for another issue and will ask them to take a look.
