Howdy, figured since this project is coming to a close this week (Hopefully), figured I would post a build thread about Raptor swapping my truck.

Been talking to a neighbor who used to run an offroad/raptor shop here in Texas about upgrading my trucks suspension since mine is worn out and rides like crap now. Finally twisted my arm enough about doing a Raptor swap, and so I've been slowly buying the parts for it over the last 6 months. I finally have all my parts, and we should be installing it tomorrow. (Fingers crossed!)

List of parts you will need for a 14th Gen F-150:

Front Suspension:
Gen 1 Raptor Front Coilovers & Rebuild Kits
Geiser Progressive 2.5" Lift Springs
Gen 2 Raptor Lower Control Arms
Gen 2 Upper Control Arms
Gen 2 Outer Tie Rods
Gen 2 CV Axles
Gen 2 Extended Brake Lines
Lower Shock Mounting Bolts

Rear Suspension:
Gen 1 Raptor Rear Shocks w/ piggyback
Rear Shock Rebuild Kits
Raptor Rear Block
New U Bolts
1.5" Wheel Spacers

Wheels and Tires
Method 304 Double Standard 17x8.5" Wheels w/ 0mm Offset
315/70r17 Toyo Open Country R/T Pro's

Everything is bolt on with a little trimming. I'll post the install process when it happens tomorrow.

Truck as it sat pre-swap:

Picked these coilovers up in Houston for $100 and had my buddy rebuild them with new seals, shafts, and springs. Also got very lucky and they came with the shims you need to get the proper angle which to my understanding you can't purchase from Ford.

Rear shocks and two more front sets I bought in Dallas, sold the extras for a profit so the rears were "Free" to me:

New Method Wheels and tires, got these mounted last weekend:

Truck should have a similar stance to this one when it's all complete:

Gunna be sick when its done!

Raptors utilize the same leaf springs as other F150s?

If you're swapping just about all suspension components, swing some Deavers under that mf

ETA Methods make everything hot, excellent wheel selection

2021 and up has a five link setup.

Raptors (at least the gen 2) have really weak leaf springs for a soft ride. You need to replace them every 75K miles on top of rebuilding the Fox shocks every 50K miles.

2021+ went to 5 link coil springs with better ride quality.

2019+ have live valve shocks that are very pricey to adapt to a truck that didn't come with them.

OP: In your research, did you find any issues with the front shock tower mounting points being higher on Raptors? Supposedly Ford raised the shock tower mounts to increase travel. Not sure how that effects swaps.

I have a 2019 Raptor and once you get used to that suspension you don't want to go back to a regular truck. It's not just the smoothness of the ride or it's ability to take huge bumps, but the extra stability of the wider track width. Having the wider track with correct suspension geometry really improves handling and stability.

That being said, the swaps interest me, because I'd like to have a 5.0 whippled truck with Raptor suspension without paying $50K to 5.0 swap my Raptor or paying $130K for a Raptor R.

Yes that's correct. The Gen 2 (2017-2020) have taller coilover assemblies, so the top shock bucket is taller than a normal F150. That's why I went with the Gen 1 shocks. You can use Gen 2, but you have to either use Gen 1 springs or weld in new shock buckets. Wasn't interested in that since Gen 1 coilovers are cheaper and direct bolt in vs weld in.

Nice ride! I am a supercab guy myself as well. I've considered doing the Raptor stuff on my 04

Nice, I hope it works out great for you and looking forward to seeing the after pics. I think you'll really enjoy it!

Update: My buddy and I got the front end installed last night, overall went pretty smoothly. Only took about 4 hours or so. We were able to use his friends shop with a lift which made this job so much easier over rolling around on the ground. I am very happy with the upgrade so far. Rides so much smoother than stock with a leveling puck.

We did run into a couple issues that I am going to have to fix later. For one, the new drivers side CV axle bolt broke off while we were torqueing it down. Broke off at 25 ft/lbs, so a manufacturers defect. I ordered those through RockAuto, so getting a replacement will be a PITA. We weren't able to complete the back because I ordered the wrong U-Bolts so that is going to be delayed for a few weeks until I can get new ones. I think I will have to get custom ones made as they are curved, and most extended U bolts are squared.

Anyway, here are the pictures of the install:

P/S getting torn down.

New parts installed:

Here's the CV axle with the broken bolt. It's safe to drive on this as it doesn't spin unless you are in 4wd and the hub is not held together by the CV axle unlike GM trucks.

Got the alignment done this morning, it was almost impossible to drive in a straight line down I35 as both wheels were toed out in opposite directions. Jesse and John at Austin's Finest Brakes & Alignment are the best in the game in the Austin area. Truck drives straighter now than when I picked it up from the dealer new.

Had to trim a bit of the bumper off so I could turn, now it only scrubs at full lock on the crash bars. Those will get cut out when I replace the CV axle

Final product for now. I love how it sits so aggressive now.

Is it just the perspective or does it move the front wheel forward a few inches?

I think its the fisheye lens, I looked at it again and its centered in the wheel well.

Looks good, will you eventually do raptor fenders?

from what i know, the Raptor fenders do not mount up to the standard F150s. Bubba at Exodus 4x4 built a Raptor Replica and had to make the fenders.
