Considering one as a daily driver. Prefer the 6 cylinder. Looking for opinions and any experiences with them. Only typical truck stuff it will do is haul small loads from town to farm, and drive daily down about 5 miles gravel road. Weighing a ranger against a frontier, mainly because of the 6 cylinder engines.

A friend in high school had a 1996, but I'm not familiar with the newer generations.

I got one a few weeks ago to use as a commuter (about 100 miles a day). I really like it so far. XLT 2.3L FX4. Getting about 20mpg. Very comfortable ride. I ordered some upgraded Eibach coilover shocks to level it out and a bed cap. Because I can't leave anything stock for some reason lol

This one is a 2024..

I can't speak for the new ones but I daily an 05 XL with the 2.3l and a 5 speed. It has 260k mi on it and hasn't given me any issues in the 50k I've put on it. I use it more for pickup things than I do my F250 just because the bed height is low and rarely do I need the payload capacity of the 250. I just rebuilt the whole front suspension and put new struts in all four corners and it drives like new. I love that little pickup.

The latest generation one is quite great. They fixed a lot of the design flaws that came out with the global T6 platform that the 2019 ranger was riding on.

I've spent quite a bit of time driving as well as riding in one, and I find that they are a great alternative for someone who doesn't like a full-size truck and want something that's easier to maneuver.
