Ive havent bought anything outside F-150s for the past decade and I guess im entering the years of my life (early 40s) where Luxury SUVs are very appealing. I was told to avoid BMW Xseries. Im looking at the Genesis GV70 and it looks pretty solid. Any other recommendations? Not looking to spend more than $90k.
What kind of features are you looking for? Do you want a third row (and if yes, do you plan to use it or is it only for rare occasions?) How much do you care about reliability?

No need for a third row. Its just me, the wife, and my two kids who are attending UTRGV. I want reliability and low depreciation.

If depreciation is a concern just go try each of the Lexus suvs and pick one.
Agree that at that price point and if reliability is key then just go test drive the Lexus SUVs. The LX would be over 90k but probably too big for your needs anyway. Look at the GX and TX

I asked my son about which one he would prefer and he said get a Porsche. Lol a little out of my price range for a lower end of a six figure salary. The video really shows the quality of a Porsche
Mechanic told me Toyota, Honda, Lexus, Acura (in that order) - my only complaint with Honda is road noise (but haven't tried them recently). Get ready to spend between 75-90k
I asked about the GV80 and he discouraged me from entertaining. Be careful outside of the above brands on depreciation.
There are negatives to the Macan: 1. The front control arm bushings wear out early due to Audi's suspension design placing additional loading on bushing that causes it to crack. Control arm replacement at around 50 to 60k miles
2. The desire to get a 911 or Cayman will increase exponentially
3. The back storage can seem small at times when loading for a trip/vacation with the rear seats up. Experience with Tetris helps, thoughts about the GX550 creep in
4. Keep the drains clean for the sunroof, overflow from a blockage dumps water on the electrical systems at the rear cargo area (rear body module, radio amps, chassis control systems)

Why all the Xseries hate. Love my X5. Yes it depreciates like most all the germans but just buy it CPO 3 years old and pocket the depreciation against future repairs.
BMW ranked just behind Porsche in the latest JD powers reliability. Well behind Lexus yes, but well ahead of Lincoln and the Koreans.
Driving experience is phenomenal and even with the x40 series turbo 6 vs v8 you're 0-60 in the low 5s and getting 21/24 (maybe more like 19/24 but still)

Do you need to buy new? You get way more bang for your buck buying a used euro. What are your requirements other than price?
X5 is fine if you dump it before the warranty is up. A model refresh is coming at the end of the year if you aren't in a rush to buy. BMW tech is going to be more up to date than Porsche.
For Macan or Cayenne, you don't want the base trim IMO. Look at the GTS, turbo, or turbo s. You shouldn't have any issue finding one in your price range. A 2016 - 2018 Cayenne Turbo S is well in your price range or if you want newer 2019+ Turbo or GTS is in that range. You can find lots of Macan turbos in the $50-90k range.
The Audi RSQ8, which is their version of the Lamborghini Urus, has depreciated into your price range as well. That's a fantastic option if you prefer the more subdued Audi styling. Get a Fidelity or similar aftermarket warranty if you're concerned about repairs on used.
X5 is the answer if you care about performance at all. Macan and cayenne are way too expensive and they nickel and dime you for every conceivable option. Gv80 is ok but not nearly as polished. Nothing else is in the realm of those. Gx is a tank, totally different vibe.
