Anyone own a current generation Tundra?

Thinking about going back to a truck for my next vehicle in a couple of years when I pass my Pilot along to my oldest daughter.

I know the current gen Tundra has had its issues but I can't see myself buying a domestic brand. For anyone that owns one, how do you like it?

Wait until 2027s are out or buy a 2021 for boring reliabilty. I read somewhere there are lots of engine changes scheduled for 2027, so I'd wait until then. Even then it will never be as dead nuts reliable and simple as a 2021.

I have about 45k miles on a '23 Limited 4x4 and it replaced a 2014 Tundra 5.7L V8 with 120k miles. I've had zero issues and like the '23 way more than the '14. It's better in every possible way. Better mileage, better acceleration, better towing, and much better infotainment.

They sure seem to have deals on the Tundra. It's almost like they're trying to move them off the lots.

Worst move ever getting rid of their V8s.

I have a '23 tundra non-hybrid 4x4 with 103k on it. It works fine, nothing really exceptional about it over the current options. I haven't had any mechanical issues just normal oil and filter changes. I have received notice for a recall for engine failure but there is no current solution for my truck. It runs well so I'll keep putting miles on it till they get new engine for it. Most engine failures were occurring at much lower mileage than where it is currently.

I wish the remote start was not subscription based. The driver seat trim cracks on all of them. I wish I knew to get the Trd off-road package to get a rear locker above the normal 4x4 package.

With 34"s I am getting 15-16 mpg.

Have a 2014 1794 Edition and it might outlive me. Really intrigued by the Capstone, but I'm a low mileage driver and my current 1794 is running great with 170k miles.

I drive quite a bit so the gas mileage on those previous gen 4x4 Tundras is a deal breaker for me.

Have a 2023 that i have put 56k on.
No problems so far

Previously had a 2018 and this truck is way better in every aspect

They fixed the cracking part of the driver seat in '24.

You can remote start from FOB press the lock and button 3 times and hold on third press.

press the 'lock' button on the remote 2 times then hold it down on the 3rd press when within 100-feet or so. Almost every Toyota works this way.

Yes that is the correct process except I think in their great wisdom, Toyota limited the range less than half of that and the remote does not allow remote start when the subscription runs out. Also the truck would turn the engine off if you opened the door.

It was a really dumb set of decisions.

Own a 2023 with 45k miles and no issues.

A coworker has a 22 and no issues and closer to 75k miles.


You can take you current 22 and newer tundra if you have the "recall" and they will give you a brand new engine no questions asked if your tundra has the recall notice…even with no issues.

Said coworker is getting a new engine at 75k miles. No cost..to him.


I love my tundra





Edit to add this was after upsizing from my 2012 access cab Tacoma before I traded the bad boy in. Planned to have it much longer but "life" happened and you can't fit three car seats in an access cab. That was my biggest
Complaint with that truck
