Anyone here an expert and how to fight this for fair evaluation that wouldn't mind me picking their brain?

My gf was involved in a High speed accident a week and half ago. she was not at fault but it feels like USAa seems to be really not super helpful and making sure she gets made as whole as possible on her car.

If anyone is an expert on how to pick apart a CCC total loss report I would really appreciate the insight.

Is USAA her insurance or the at fault party?

Yes, there are experts here.
What's the year, make, model, mileage, anything special and what did they offer?

Review the condition ratings a lot of time insurance will just put it at "average private" which does not add/subtract value depending on the age of vehicle. Also review the comps and what the adjusted value is. Double check to make sure no options were missed that could add value.

I got several recommendations when I asked a few months ago: https://texags.com/forums/46/topics/3547515/replies/70451799

Time ended up being one of our greatest allies. It seemed like as the case stretched out they were willing to come up on value to close our ticket.

Just keep pushing back and pushing back against what they say and have documents or examples to support your position. It's a pain in the ass and took several months to get what we believed was a fair value for the vehicle.

It is 2016 Subaru Forester Premium W/ continuously Variable Transmission 123K
she had 2 cars come into her lane going back to her house on hw 90 outside of Segun last week. she took to shoulder and was hit on side by two cars. Usaa is her insurance and they know she's not at fault they are still waiting on the police report for who's at fault. She was super lucky bc it could have been awfull. usaa had the car taken to a lot they eval it and sent her a pay out offer of of 9,421.00.

The car is in good shape- prior to being hit. it had a few rock marks on windshield had dust under the hood bc it was never washed under there so they downgraded her from very good to good and took 1370 off all the comps before the average.

the comps they used ranged from 10900 to 9800 (from dec can't find any info on it) and another vehicle that I can't find any info to evaluate that was already sold and can't be evaluated. I talked to the one I can find and the manager said it's in good condition but not very good bcc they do not designate any car over 120k as very good.
i can get whoever is interested the full CCC eval if they know of a productive way to attack it. He said they had it at 10900 bc of a deal the took at trade in but jd power had it at 12300.

any insight would be helpful i can provide anything that's needed. shes a schoolteacher for sped kids so i am just trying to help her navigate this and not get shafted

From a minimal amount of looking online and without seeing the report that sounds like a 10800-11000 car IMHO. There's several on auto trader within 10k miles of odometer.

Maybe someone with mmr will come along and tell you what that says retail is.

Have her remind them that they're her company and they're going to subrogate this onto the guilty party

Id be fighting for 11+ttl if it was my car. Remember they owe her sales tax on top of the settlement. Then I'd find a new insurance carrier

Another thread on this: https://texags.com/forums/46/topics/3558156

I shared my story of a past experience dealing with this on that thread, the gist of it is that you should be very patient with their offers and annoyingly persistent with evidence that supports your position.

Casually mention to the other party's carrier that your GF has started have some increasing back pain, blurry vision and headaches and that the Texas Hammer is her uncle.

I had two vehicles get totaled due to hail a few months ago. I had to fight with insurance on both vehicles. I had two vehicles that were hard to find comps within the allotted miles. They can extend the search for comps if needed to make sure the comps match your vehicle.

I spent hours on Autotrader finding vehicles that matched. Like others have said find comps that match your vehicle. Find the best comps because they will use the lowest they can.

At the end of the day they hope you settle and won't fight for long. Whatever you do don't accept until you get what matches your vehicle. I had to fight for three months to get what was owed to me. If they refuse to work with you file a complaint with your state insurance agency. Do everything you can to keep pressure on them.

This. Analyze everything in detail. And when progressive totaled my f150 it took me about 5 weeks of going back and forth with them and I had to go to the manger of the supervisor that did the appraisal. Only was able to squeeze out about 1,500 more. It was a pain and even then didn't get all full value.

I'm in this situation right now...but for our main travel vehicle.

It's merely cosmetic but they totaled out our vehicle and we cannot get anything close to what they're trying to pay for our 2018 Yukon XL (red) with less than 97k miles on it.

I sent the adjuster some new comps this afternoon and hoping that they'll review my request and adjust their evaluation. I saw vehicles older than mine with 30k more miles priced higher than the totaled value they provided.

I used this fella back in 2020 for an appraisal on the M that was T-boned. Well worth the ~$300, it got me another 3000 or so from the initial offer from insurance. He's in Cypress.

My issue….hail damage from 2025 hail storm caused my car insurance to total loss my vehicle (2018 Yukon XL SLT with 96k miles on it).

They only wanted to pay me $19k total loss value but buy it back cost to me was only $11k. Nothing wrong with the engine or vehicle itself, just has dimples.

We obviously cannot find anything in that same range, whether it was price or mileage.

Requested a revaluation and provided comp nationwide for similar areas via auto trader and cars.com per the board.

The adjuster came back and stated that I couldn't use comps from more than 25 miles or my designated home area.

The problem is when I pull up my area I can only find 3 similar vehicles but they all have 30-50k more miles on them.

Anyone else other suggestions besides to request for their comp examples?

We concerned about having a salvage title and not being able to be insured on that vehicle?

Anyone have a salvage title before and have any issues with being insured by a carrier? Who does everyone recommend I attempt to get coverage through if we decide to keep the vehicle?

Thanks

Former Adjuster here with major carrier... as another said make sure first and foremost the Condition Ratings are correct for the vehicle compared to what CCC states the definition for that year of vehicle.
We got scolded all the time if we had Condition Ratings too high, even if the Conditions were selected correctly for the vehicle in question.
Other things to make sure the mileage, options, trim levels are all correct, but if it is a Subaru not too many standalone options/upgrades are available.
Last, make sure they have added in sales tax, car registration, title fees, etc. for that year of vehicle. I would always look at KBB private party(not retail or trade-in) section to make sure the CCC eval I had returned to me was in the same ball park. The adjuster should also have the capability to ask CCC to expand the search to get more comparables in the eval report.

Just remember the insurance company owes "Fair market value", or in other words, what the car was worth right before the accident/what you as a private party could have sold the car for to another private party. So, not a dealer retail price as a list price at a dealer, or buying from a dealer will likely be higher and has added cost into a list price.

Yeah, they wont do a nationwide search as prices can be higher or lower nationwide. On the make sure they have all the options, mileage, packages correct on the report and the condition ratings(pre-loss condition) correct on the report as well. A lot of people retain their vehicles when it is just cosmetic, but yes you will have a salvage title, and if you dont get it repaired and have hail damage or really any other damages in the future, they wont pay you again for any damages as they have already paid out "the full value" of the property in question on the hail claim. You should be able to get full coverage again, but would most likely need to get the repairs done and have documentation it was fixed prior to getting full coverage. On the make sure they have all the options, mileage, packages correct on the report and the condition ratings(pre-loss condition) correct on the report as well.

Ultimately if you dont agree with the value, you should have a binding appraisal clause in your policy. Essentially, at least when it was with the company I worked with it meant the customer would hire an appraiser at their cost, we would hire an appraiser at our cost, and those two appraisers would agree with a 3rd party arbitrator with what the value would be, sometimes it would be lower, sometimes higher. I usually didnt get to that point because I would handle 30-40 total loss files/month and I wanted to make sure on each one I had an accurate and fair offer otherwise I would get nothing done.

Yeah, that doesnt work, injuries have nothing to do with the property damage claim, two entirely separate parts of the policy, and most injury lawyers dont care about the vehicle value, they know the $$$ is in the injury portion of the claim, not the auto/PD.

When I was an adjuster, people would threaten that all the time and when a lawyer would call me and I told them I just handled the property portion of the claim and not injuries, they would never call me back again.

Do they ever factor in an extended warranty if one was purchased and it still has a significant amount of time/miles remaining?

I'm just curious, not something I'm going thru.

I gotta be honest with you arguing with Usaa over this is like spitting into the wind. They deferred to whatever CCC says, even though their member is not at fault for the accident.

I wish there was a more straightforward way to fight this and there condition report that I can't even verify on cars that are no longer at the lots .
