2023 F150 5.0 misfire at 29k

Anyone else have issues with p0303 code on the 5.0 engine? Was going about 70 when dash and screen all went dark for a split second and fordpass app started showing a misfire. O'Reilly's code reader showed a misfire on cylinder 3. Truck is at the dealer this morning they just called and said it needs a new spark plug and coil but they don't have the parts in stock. What dealer doesn't stock sparkplugs? They did ask me three times if I wanted the oil and filter changed though.

I just had flashbacks to my old 5.4 that chewed through COPs

At least it's a simple fix but not sure why they don't have the plugs in stock. Maybe all they have is the ones for the boosts?

The spark plug came in, but the coil was on backorder. Parts manager says it might be in today or tomorrow. Anyone have insight on using the eco setting in drive mode on the 8 cylinders?

I did it for a few tanks and my mileage was worse with eco than normal mode and it had no balls on the highway. 2023 coyote also at 90k. I haven't changed plugs or coils yet and have no obvious misfire issues, but I also haven't hooked up to forscan to check for them.

That is what I would like to know, parts person got a coil from another dealership so it is back on the road now.

If you have the fordpass app or whatever they are calling it now you would know if you had a misfire, and there would be a check engine light on. Apparently a continuous misfire gets you a flashing check engine light and a recommendation that you find a place to park and look for a tow truck.

Flashing check engine light tells almost any driver to park and tow. Most vehicles.

Yes, continuous misfire will throw a code and I had lots of those with the Ecoboost as the plugs started getting past 30k miles, especially when towing. You can still see misfires in the computer that don't meet the threshold for a code/error by looking at the live data stream in forscan.

Either way, I'll plan to do new plugs later this spring when I change all of the fluids at 100k.
