I've been looking at buying a new vehicle and I'm open to just about any location in the country. I'm thinking it's probably cheaper to have it shipped to where I live in Kansas City rather than fly in and drive it all the way back.

Any idea on how much that might cost?
Recommendations on companies to use?

Its been a few years since I shipped a vehicle but I'm 99.99% certain it will be cheaper to fly out and drive back than to ship. It ran be about $800 to ship from TX to SC in 2021.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

This time last year we purchased a vehicle Florida, outside Miami, I think. Shipped to Dallas. Was a company the dealer had used/recommended. Was around 1000, maybe 1100. Overall, a very easy process.

Got here on a Sunday. Thought it was funny that the carrier just stopped and unloaded in the left lane on Coit.

Looks like I might be flying out and driving back then. $1000 would be about 20% of the cost of the vehicle and I don't think I could justify that.

If it's that kind of vehicle you might be better off shipping than breaking down somewhere and having to rent a uhaul truck and dolly to get it home!

$800-1200 is my guess

If you have it shipped, have the seller overnight you an extra key and the title. I've had each disappear while dealing with a shipper.

Title is "easy" to deal with. A lost key means the driver can't get the car off their trailer.

If you know someone or know someone who knows someone in the industry you might be able to get it shipped for free.

My sister works for dealers (autotrader) and has relationships with dealerships all over the country. When we moved from Colorado to TX, she was able to get our crappy little Hyundai thrown on 1 of those trucks for free. We just had to pick it up at the nearest auction location when it arrived.

And no, I'm not someone you know who knows someone. Ha!

The good news is that I found what I was looking for only 4 hours away from me in St Louis. So that's an easy drive.
